Toying with getting back into road bikes...

Really love the look of the current range of Look bikes.

Has anyone got one of the current range.... What do you think about it?

I've test ridden a 795, LBS had a demo night and was told to take the 795 out for a good long ride of at least an hour so I think I had a good idea of how it rode.

It felt quick, it was responsive with every little push on the pedal giving an increase in speed. It also really climbed well. I liked the adjustable crank length feature on the one piece crank. Riding position was pretty aggressive. The Carbon one piece crank is a work of art.

I hate the look of it though, the integrated stem and sloping top tube to my eyes look horrible. I'm convinced its a fantastic bike to ride.

If I was starting from nothing then I'd probably buy one. But as I already own a LOOK 586 it just didnt feel like the financial outlay to upgrade was worth it. I.e. it didnt feel fast enough over my current bike to justify the financial outlay.. and I'd have to sacrifice my stages power meter or spec a 795 without the ZED crank which sort of defeats the point of it all that combined with I just dont like the aesthetics of it.

HTH

Edit to add pic of test bike..

Thanks for the response.

I know looks are subjective, but I have to say I like the different look of the 795 and 675.

Would love a 795 aero light, but that will be a bit over budget.

All the other options look appealing... 675, 695 or the new 765.

The supposed extra ride comfort of the 765 might also welcome.

765 has a reputation for being a bit soft at the back, not sure if this is true or if its just bike journos wanting to sound like they know what they are talking about but I've read it more than once, that said, when one bike journo writes something, another usually copies it and it becomes fact!

795 is a lovely thing for sure but be warned that when the stem is flipped it loses all those nice integrated looks!

Don't forget the LOOK Epost has some different rubber bungs in it to dampen out the ride. I use the Red one in mine, but the 795 you'll notice had the grey in which gives a firmer ride, and even on the rough Somerset back roads I took it on the ride was still very compliant.

IIRC though the 765 doesn't have the Epost does it ? Also the LOOK rep said whilst he liked the integrated brakes on the Aero models they can be a PIA to setup and he said in his opinion that the standard setup was better for every day riding.

Shamless bike pic time of my 586 just so you can see the red bung in the Epost you understand...
