I was looking at some old photos from the 1970s in an article in the Guardian and spotted this one that contained an old Porsche 356 that was looking pretty tatty in 1974, when the photo was taken.

As you can see in the image it looks very unloved with quite a bad dent in the front and was already looking a bit rusty so I guessed it had long since found its way to the scrapyard.

Just did a quick registration check and lo and behold, it seems to still be alive. Or at least the registration number is still allocated to a 1600 cc Porsche first registered in 1961 and particularly pleasing to see that it is carrying a current MOT as well as tax. So I am guessing it still the same car which really does show these things were made to last.

I bet there are some fantastic stories behind this vehicle over its 55 years of existence.

The article was a photo gallery of 1970s businesses that have since closed down. This particular photo is a motorcycle workshop in Leeds which was demolished shortly after the photo was taken.

Great photo, I wonder if any of the bikes still survive?


Also, I wonder if this has been restored yet....eek
