So many people suggesting taking puncture repair kit and spare inner tubes on every ride do you all really take this kit out every time strapped to your bikes? Nobody I know does this I've had one puncture in 10 years and then I called a mate who rescued me. No way I'm going to be struggling with a crappy repair kit at the side of the road just take your phone with you.
I'd rather repair and continue. It sounds like you only do short rides - if you're 50 miles from home, asking your mate to collect is a bit of a lend.

Record for punctures was 7 in 1 ride. It sucked!

I cycle with my running club and i'd say every other week somebody punctures.

Might be because they don't pump there tyres up enough but at least it's easy to just swop the tubes compared to mending the puncture.

I do 100-200 miles a week and don't often get one , but I would feel humiliated if I had to call for a lift home over something so trivial

I always take a tube/multitool/pump and other bits in my jersey pocket

You can fit everything you need in a saddlebag/pocket

You should be able to do a puncture in less than 5 minutes with no tools, if its a nice day and no rush I'll take my time to ensure the tube is in properly. Sod patches in road bikes Ive found they cant hold the pressure, instead new tube each time and patches as a last resort.

Rides are less than 2 hours and a circular route from home so never more than 10k from the front door plus gator skin tyres means no punctures the last 2000miles and no faff with carrying all this kit.

Each to their own I guess. My take is that "all this kit" weighs less than a decent poo, and sits in a tiny bag under my saddle. It cost all of about 15 quid to put together, and I'm never ever going to have to do repeats of the 2 rides (well, long walks) that taught me to carry the right kit to be self sufficient!

I take a small kit and have a pump on the bike but have to agree, unless I really had to I wouldn't repair it, I'd just call a friend. I haven't had a puncture since Lands End to John O Groats in 2010 though! I use Bontrager triple puncture protection, bit slower but nice to know I'm unlikely to puncture.

Guarantee I'll get a puncture tomorrow now I've said that!

In the last 5 years and thousands of KMs. I've only called for the "Team car" once biggrin

Broken spoke on the rear wheel. Rim went to a shape that I couldn't recover. It's good to have a back up, but IMO its not worth curtailing things for something relatively regular.

The differences are weight, looks, venting, how they fit the head etc. Ive had cheap to expensive and smashed most of them, as long as they are CE rated you cant go wrong. Buy the best you can afford!
I would say buy the most comfortable you can afford otherwise you won't wear it smile
