Ultegra SPD-SL Pedals
Discussion
Bought a set of Ultegra pedals to go with my new ultegra specced Boardman SLS.
I run a set of Shimano R540 Light Action pedals on my old bike and have found the Ultras much stiffer even on their lightest setting - so much so that I'm probably thinking of swapping them out for another set of R540 LA's. Does the Ultregra action get any lighter with use ? Ive definitely had a couple of moments where the light action on the 540s has got my foot out quicker than i imagine i could on the Ultregra pedals.
Thanks

I'd expect they are called 'light action' for a reason.
Doh - i asked for that !! Just surprised how tight the ultegras are on their lightest setting - i've got slim but not matchstick ankles so god knows what they are like on anything else. Maybe i need to persevere with them but I wouldn't like my chances if i was needing to unclip quickly compared to my light actions (plus I've never felt I'm pulling my foot out of the LA's). Might be me as i'm new to clipless this year but have probably done well over 1000 miles since converting and it's happily become 2nd nature.
Cheers

I noticed they are stiffer than the 105 version, although they do slacken off. You'll quickly get used to them and will twist to unclip with a little more force without thinking about it. If you really can't get one with them, just go back to the light action ones unless you're a weight weenie.
