Anyone ridden a new Roubaix yet?
Discussion
Sorry I can't help JD, but I'm interested to know because it's the kind of thing I'll be looking for if/when I get the insurance through after my latest crash.
I have a friend who loves his Roubaix but it's an older zertz model and it seems to have changed completely for this year with it's suspended headset thing.
I'm intrigued you're coming back around to a drop bar bike.

I have a 2016 Roubaix SL4 (with the Zertz) and I love it - very comfortable whilst also being responsive. You can pick up some good end-of-season deals on that model at the moment - I'd recommend giving it a go.
I've ridden the Zertz equipped bike a few times and really liked it - enough that I also looked into getting one on a deal but no one seems to have one in my size (58cm)... also, do love a gadget and having the latest version is always nice too! (but still keen to know about the new tech - although the reviews have been very positive so far!)JD

Oh dear, what have you done now?!
I was commuting by bicycle from Lingfield into the city over the Summer which I've really enjoyed, but sadly about 3 weeks ago I got knocked off in Brixton. Happily I didn't suffer too much damage personally, but it pretty much snapped the frame of my Colnago which is a bit gutting (as is holing my PH jersey!).So I'm back on the Le Mans veteran Allez for now. Fingers crossed I'll be shopping for another bike soon.

I have the old 2014 Zertz Roubaix model and that's proved ideal for me for London-to-Paris and this year's Ride100.I have a friend who loves his Roubaix but it's an older zertz model and it seems to have changed completely for this year with it's suspended headset thing.

Be interested to hear how the new model compares.
I've ordered one, thought it isn't expected to arrive till Dec!
Used to have an SL2 (commuter) & just bought an SL4 to replace it with as well as making it my only bike. A lower back injury has meant my Roubaix is the only bike I can ride semi comfortably.
The new Roubaix looks massively adjustable and I'm pinning an awful lot of hope on it - hopefully it'll be worth it....

James Pedal Heaven have a 54cm demo in stock (down the M3 in Fleet).
Give Des a call and he should sort you out.

Not easily - apparently Specialized only supply 54 and 56cm demo bikes... which isn't ideal but I guess is logical based on most people fitting those sizes.
What size would you normally ride?I have a 58cm Tarmac but found myself quite comfortable on a 56cm Roubaix when I borrowed one.
The new Roubaix has different geometry to the outgoing model, most notably a lower front end (head tube), it's actually shorter than the Tarmac.
My LBS is a Specialized dealer and they're not going to have new Roubaix's for a while yet.
James, South Downs Bikes in Storrington in Sussex had a couple, a couple of weeks ago, might be worth a call if you're local? They were commenting on the geo changes, the new Roubaix takes some of those "upright/relaxed" conventions of a sportive type bike and ignores them.

Thanks all,
I'm pretty sure I need a 58, as all the road bikes I've owned previously have been that size (including Specialized ones)... but as has been pointed out the new Roubaix has different geometry, hence why I wanted to try one.
My "local" bike shop - Surrey Hills Cycleworks in Leatherhead is also a Specialized dealer and have 54 and 56cm bikes in stock, but it is a 58 I want to try. I say "local" - I live a hundred miles away from there now but have close ties to it because it is owned by a close friend of mine and I used to work there as a lad.
Anyway, as has been pointed out - so many replies and no one has tried one yet!!!

I just had a look at one (but not a ride) in Rutland Cycles, Histon. My impression is that it is now quite different to last year's model. The amount of flex in the stem is massive to the point where I couldn't imagine sprinting out of the saddle, and I'm told the geometry is relatively cramped. I'm not sure what they're aiming at but if the 2016 Roubaix met your requirements, it is not at all obvious that the 2017 version still will.
