So , with winter loming just round the corner it's time for the turbo trainer , just wondering what I should be hitting on the turbo , yesterday I did 75 mins doing sprint bursts every 15 mins for about 2 mins each sprint , I have tried 30 min session and a 45 min session not to sure what's the best to hit really , seen online the 30 min intense session is popular , what are you up to on your turbo ? Any top tips ?

I alternate between doing long and light (mainly Zone 2) to intensive. By long I mean 60 mins+ and the intensive is more like 30 or 40 minutes. I use a Watt bike so it has workouts you can follow.

I definitely notice a difference after doing this - I'm faster and my endurance is better. The only thing I sometimes struggle is working out which style to do. I normally do a session a day during the working week.

Loads of good training plans on the British cycling website. It's Amazing how often they are over looked. Particular favorites are big gear low cadence sessions and Russian steps.

I use Trainerroad and follow their training guides, really feeling the benefit of them.

It really depends what your aims are? Building fitness for racing next year, or just staying fit over winter? If it's the latter then I wouldn't overthink it - just do a variety of workouts covering sweet-spot/threshold (e.g. 2x20), VO2 intervals and sprints. Mixing it up will keep boredom at bay. If you can, have a go with Zwift, particularly the races (ZTR, KISS etc) - they've transformed my evening turbo sessions and definitely make workouts more interesting.
