Will be in Manchester on the 12th November, spot of shopping and a spell in the German market.. Going to eat there as well, anyone any suggestions? Tend to spend around £100 to £150 mark, to give a financial ball park.

Manchester confidential sell, Double you money restaurant vouchers (£50 will get you £100 to spend on food or drinks)

Ive used their vouchers for Neighbourhood and Albert Sq Chop House (both right by the markets)

El Gato Negro
La Bandera
Iberica
Hawksmoor
The French
Mr Cooper's House & Garden
Yuzu
Umezushi
Siam Smiles
Thomas's or Sam's Chop House

Places like Australasia and Manchester House are all Living Ventures operations and, imo, have a very samey feel about them.

Recently been to Rudy's in Manchester, not the last word in fine dining like the French but a great atmosphere and Pizza. I can also recommend Beef & Pudding, again relaxed eating.

wouldn't bother with Rudy's personally, the pizzas are really nice but extremely thin, service isn't particularly good, no draught beers, you can't book and because its extremely popular its hard to get in.

in addition to the suggestions from other posters: try Tattu in spinningfields or Graphene (might be difficult to get in)

I miss a lot of the old places.

Anyone remember Cocotoo (sic?), Topkaffe (SIC!), 39 Steps etc.

Some old joints still around, Dimitris, Armenian and the like.

Is there anywhere in town with a star?

An interesting place just opened in Stockport of all places. 'where the light gets in'.

Decent opening reviews and an ambitious concept for the area.

Rogan's not there anymore - it's his former head chef, and recent star of GBM, Adam Reid that's now heading the place up and revamping apparently with a new direction.

Michael O'Hare is likely the biggest name in Manchester at the moment with 3 upcoming new restaurants as part of a venture with the Nevilles' property development firm. He'll have 1 in Urbis, and 2 in Stock.

don't come to manchester looking for michelin star food. There is fine dining, but if star-chasing is your thing, you'll be disappointed.
