More disk brake in the peleton problems

The wheels might not break up, but you still won't be able to stop. Presumably the manufacturers have been able to address this, but I very much doubt they're fade proof.

These pics show just how weanie my Ashima 140mm rotors are. In contrast, the standard TRP 160mm's supplied with the brake kit have far more meat - looks more like a 75/25 metal/hole ratio on the braking surface. Yes, the rotors were untouchable just after my bedding-in-the-pads descent but have been fade-free in real world use since (600 miles now). That said, I am the original 8 stone weakling at just 55kg (excl.bike ).

I did briefly consider getting an HyRd for the front but (wrongly) assumed that the different 'feel' of the two levers would be disconcerting. It's still an option I might try one day. I found the beauty of building your own bike is you can decide precisely which ancillaries to fit, to suit your own individual requirements.
