Castleman Trailway - Upton end.

Castleman Trailway - Ringwood end.

Two points on yesterday's 100 km first ride on my new bike.

70 odd km in Luxembourg yesterday, mostly flat along the Moselle, ending with a 5km climb.
I was joined by Mr loudlashadjuster of this parish and another mate who’s not a PHer.
It was their first ride out this year. Suspect they’ve both sore behinds today.

Had to get a pic of the Moselle as it was so calm. I’ve never witnessed reflections on the water surface before.

Non PHer mate in shot….

Good to get back out on the road again. Been a bleak winter/spring.

Yes, woke up to a frost here this morning, so guessing it was cold up there last night.

It was 6 degrees when we started riding and felt pretty chilly by the end - Garmin says 4. It was snowing three weeks ago though so can’t complain! They had the BBQ up and running and the lower car park was nearly full so spring is definitely here.

I got some of the snow when I was there last, only bits left either side at the top of the initial climb.

Looking forward to Wednesday evenings there now it's (hopefully) becoming warmer! This morning's frost aside.

I had to unzip my jacket on the climb so that's a good sign. Next week will probably be the last time we take lights until autumn too - didn't need them yesterday.

Really enjoyed the commute today! Hit a new top speed on this bike too. Cheap kit out and fun, my two favourite things.

They still sell for like £40 (it's the wireless one). Got mine for £20 discounted though. Perfect for my needs!

In Luxembourg we have to use lights all year!

Blimey. It’s not that much of a faff to use lights but it is nice to declutter the bars come spring.

Tweaked my current bike's set up to match that of my incoming new bike to see if my back was ok with a lower front end. Back passed.

Argon18 Dark Matter, Ramsdown Plantation, Hurn, Dorset.

Short, local gravel (and dirt) ride for me today. I keep trying to get my head around planning an all day epic, but keep on chickening out and sticking to more local, tried and tested stuff for now.

I bloody well love this new bike, though. A smidgen over 157 miles in its first week, and the "new bike-itis" shows no signs of fading.

I’m definitely a fair-weather mountain biker - really not into getting filthy, wet and cold. So - last weekend and this weekend were the first rides out since last October. Shameful, really with Cannock Chase just five minutes ride away.

Still, the last two weekends have been fair weather, so got out and did 12 miles, followed by 14 yesterday. My muscles and ar$e are complaining now though….
