Today was such a beautiful day and this week is getting better, I thought it would be rude not to do a few kays and scoff some meze!

Behold my scabby steed, the new Ksyriums and Ultremos are a great combo, the bike felt like a whippet. I spotted some old giffer on the same frame and we had a laugh. Might be slinging this frame for a Felt FL5 frameset I've got my eye on.
I would say sling it my way but it would have to be one hell of a throw!

Nice looking kit going on!

Hope to have a photo of my new tt bike soon, went ahead and bought a proper set of wheels for it while I was doing it.

Best upgrade on any bike IMHO.

To complete my Jedi bike training I just need to build some wheels for one of my projects. Its a Dark Art I reckon!

Oh and it's going to be 28 today. Plan is drop the mrs off at work, quick brekky at my sisters pick up some Co2 refills and be on the pushie galore for the rest of the day. I foresee some pro looking tanlines this year! Pics from some sunny outcrop to follow!

Torture spec Merida!

Borrowed a friends turbo to see how I got in with it. First session only lasted 25 minutes until I was a sweating mess. Downloaded a interval timer app and going to be giving HIIT a go.

You may want to change your rear tyre as well unless you want to tear through the Ultremo's in no time

A good plan to have a towel, stops salty sweat dropping into your headset bolt and rusting it in place...

hehe Something like that.

Just finished my first HITT session. 6 x 5 min @ 85% max HR, 3 min rests. Not as bad as I was expecting. smile

Coz they're not hard enough, you want to be higher %age of max HR than that!

True that. To get maximum benefit from the Turbo you have to push yourself to the point where you vommit/can't walk/are crying for your mama.

Fair enough, must guides HIIT guides I've read online suggested 85% so that's what I went for. Where would you guys aim for?

I'm planning on doing a few TTs next year and I'm struggling to pick up the pace for short rides.

Circa 15 mile rides I average just below 20mph at the moment.

Last day of being a slacker today to took my latest steed to my local trails, Most of the trails were still closed due to winter damage so it was a minor visit and didn't get to open the taps on the bike. Still, weather was nice enough and it was pretty quiet which is always a bonus.

When really pushing myself for a 5 minute effort I'm at 96/97% of max HR.

I've sustained 91% max HR for a single all out 1.5 hour ride, and managed to hold 93% for an hour the other day, so I would say 85% is not going to ever feel hard!

Everyone is different depends where your own personal thresholds are, you need to make it acheivable for yourself, so if you say try next time at 88%, and if that was ok then push onto 91%.

I know the vommit feeling, done that at the end of my last two cross races, I wasn't going to lose that place.

Cannondale CAAD10 as a winter trainer, swapped wheels over to Mavic Ksyrium Elite S's with Conti all seasons in 25mm, and switched the rear cassette to a ultegra 30,

That way this fat unfit bloke can get up his favourite hill!.

Just about to go for a ride so thought I'd take the obligatory kitchen work top picture to show off my new stem, Fizik Aliante saddle and black bottle cage to replace the silver one.

Sorry, not the greatest photo (ip4) but it'll have to do for now.
Nice canyon Aybee, yeah very similar to the foil. Weighed mine on the scales & it's coming up with 7.5kg.
