Another S/S they are great fun
Oh yes, it's kind of addictive, started with a mtb, then thought might as well train on the road with it as well, so this was bought, and have just finished building a sscx as well for the upcoming season.Rocksteadyeddie said:
Have you got a hub gear on there? How do you get on with it?
No just one gear, raced a mtb singlespeed for a couple of years and love it, it will be my first season racing cross on singlespeed. The thing with singlespeeding is you have the right gear for 10% of the time, the rest of it you are under or over geared but it just makes it more fun and challenging. I'm hoping by the depths of winter the right gear for me, will have been found the mud will be proper, at that point hopefully I can stick it to a few gearies whilst their dangling deraileurs get consumed by the swamp conditions OK, so it's not new, nor expensive, nor particularly well looked after, if I'm honest, but here's a photo of my 2008 GT Avalanche 3.0 in woodland at the edge of Hawley Heath today...
...it recently had a new chainset, rear derailleur, cassette and chain, and not long before that, an upgrade of some Deore hydraulic brakes and lock-on grips.
It's heavy, with a pretty poor fork, and 'old skool' 26 inch wheels, but at the moment it's all I have, and I'm loving getting out on it.

My Latest project
was to re-build an old rusty blue 80's Colnago racer for my nephew to celebrate his 21st Birthday ,
re spraying the frame in black and applying period decals
I had to get the rear stays brazed & source new forks and a quill ,the front brake caliper as shown has been replaced with extra long brake holders as the original was not compatible with the new forks and was binding on the tyre !!
one interesting thing was there are two M3 spring loaded screws aligning the rear wheel , one was missing when I rebuilt her, I was in the process of sourcing a replacement screw but had given the bike to my nephew to take her for a ride, after 20 miles of riding I got a call from him , he said the rear cassette had " fallen off ??
I inspected the bike and sure enough the lock ring on the cassette was indeed loose , On closer inspection the lip of the rear hub had sheared off , due to the wheel moving fractionally to the right under acceleration .....he's a big lad . luckily he was ok .
I sourced a new hub and alignment screw , and hopefully he can start enjoying her

Like that! Don't remember seeing one before and I thought I was pretty clued up on MTBs. Looks like the front of a Cannondale Delta Vee...DBSV8 said:

Finally finished the Giant Omnium, I managed to find a mint condition used Zipp Service Course SL Beyond Black 17° stem which looks great and although the steerer needs chopped I don't want to do that until my fractured T4 is fully mended. I went with a Ritchey alloy one piece seatpost for strength even though I would have preferred the Zipp to match the stem, sadly at almost £100 for the seapost that was a bit too expensive.

For those that remember Spooky, they did some very very well reviewed frames.
