What was that 40t like to fit to the cassette? I keep pondering a 1x10 for mine (I would also get a 32t superstar and 11-36 cassette), but on long rides I always end up shifting down to the 22t chain ring despite my best efforts to stay in the 32t chain ring! fitting the Trex to the cassette was by far and away the easiest part of the whole thing... just went straight on without the slightest difficulty.
First proper test-ride in this sunday, but from riding it down the street, the 32t chainring / 40t sprocket feels plenty low-geared enough. It certainly feels like you just pressed the granny-ring button!
Will report back after Sunday's ride...
(you could always go for a OneUp 42t sprocket... (I was going to, but they were out of stock at the time)

After several hours searching and finding every Merida Race and Scott 24" top end bikes are sold out around the UK, found this and after a 4 hr round trip now have one of these in the garage as a surprise for my son to replace his already too small Hotrock 20. Think he will be quite happy..... Proper shifters, air shock with LO and hydraulic brakes, proper big - little bike.

Reflectors are staying as people tend to attempt to run me over at night time. I'm going to reposition them though, as not being opposite is playing havoc with my ocd! The bag is getting tired now, but it holds my phone, food and all the tools I need for a morning out. What else would you recommend? (I get too warm with a back pack)
It's a bigger bike than my last one, and it certainly feels that way at the moment...

A bespoke carbon frame built to fit an individual with unique tube lenghts and angles will cost more than £750, even from Chinese suppliers who probably wont be interested in one offs given the costs invovled.
Now I can clearly see that your frame isnt a FM015 but I dont have time to search alibaba to find it. Looks nice though, have fun.

Kinesis is a really underrated brand IMO.
Very nice, looks great. I was initially looking at a T2 ... then a 4S ... then ended up with something different with the Aithein. Kinesis are very popular around these parts and look like they've got some interesting new frames coming out which will be both disk and caliper compatible.Excuse the spacers but the head tube is diddy (compared to my summer bike) and I haven't got round to replacing the stem.

P.S. Never heard a Yeti SB referred to as a "hack" before!
What about a chain guide? I have a 2009 enduro expert that I would like to do the very same with!XT Shadow+, XT shifter, XT 11-36 Cassette, 40t Hope T-Rex, Superstar Narrow/Wide 32t chainring

head.No, it's not an "off the peg" frame. There were special requirements for the frame - and they rejected the first one that was made. And no, I'm not telling you how much I paid, but it's very competitive against anything in the LBS, plus I get the Retul fitting, and the place is on my doorstep.
Is that good enough for you? Please enlighten me on what I should have done, in your omnipotent opinion.

If you have a clutch mech and a narrow wide chain ring you could just get a top cage guide with bb mount. The spec has iscg tabs to bolt it to.If you don't have the mech then you would want something like a mrp or e13 lite guide etc with top and bottom guides. Bash ring is not too important
