My new bike is here now, too...

...Trek Emonda SL 6. It has a far more civilised 34 x 28 lowest gear, and probably weighs about half as much as the Falcon. It'll definitely be my 'climbing' bike. wink
Very nice smile

Lizard skin carbon leather. It's the best.
I've been looking for some of that but didn't know what it was called or who made it. My new MTB frame already has it on the chainstay and it looks so much better than the neoprene protectors.

I'm going to have to source the parts to fix the MTB now, and then the broken frames in the garage will get stripped down and slung in a skip.
What bits do you need for the MTB?
I've got all sorts of bits and bobs sitting about in the garage so if I've got anything you need you can have it or it'll just sit gathering dust otherwise as I don't tend to throw stuff out!

Looks good.

I'd avoid getting Hope QR's though. I'm a big fan of all Hope stuff but their QR's are rubbish!

Lovely! I prefer my red SL 6, though wink

Did you build it from a frameset? Or convert it from Dura-Ace or SRAM Red? I only ask, as I can't see a Di2 complete bike build listed on the Trek UK website.

Mine only has 5mm of spacer above the stem, so I'm not contemplating cutting it any time soon. I'm hoping that, as I get fitter and more flexible, I can take the stem down 10mm or 15mm more, but with my shoulder issues, I may end up keeping things just as they are.

It currently lacks a complete drive train.

Front mech is very loose (worn to excess), rear mech was fed to the cassette, when the mech hanger bent (and subsequently snapped), chain and cassette were worn anyway. Chainset? I don't know. That may well have been causing the "chain suck" which I think contributed to the mech hanger giving up. Basically, everything between the freehub and the bottom bracket. It's currently all low-rent Shimano 8 x 3 kit, but I was considering buying a full groupset - SLX or Deore, maybe - in 2 x 10 flavour. Presuming an 8 speed freehub will happily take a 10 speed cassette. Trouble is, I spent more than I planned on the new road bike, so I'm trying to avoid any confrontation with 'er indoors over more gratuitous bicycle spending, for a month or so at least. Let the dust settle a bit, so to speak wink

My "new" commuter is finished. A mixture of carry over parts from old bike (wheels, drivetrain, seat and post), eBay foraging and one or two shiny new bits.
Fixed gear, CX forks, cantilever brakes, proper track ends at last for reliable chain tension - should be just the job.

A satisfying weekend's work, couldn't wait to ride it in today smile

Excellent commuter build, and very similar to mine (although I use a derailleur drivetrain)

I swapped out the cantis for cheap Mini-V brakes in the end. I couldn't get them working consistently with the mileage I do.

My new steed has arrived..collect it tomorrow. The new wheels haven't turned up yet though.

I'm just a bit too excited to wait until I actually collect it before posting lol

2015 Felt AR3
Planet X 50mm carbon aero rims - no stickers (may get some for them)

Just got this at the weekend, normally just into mountain bikes but this has been great to ride.
Always wanted a road bike but I have at least a mile of tracks from my house before I even get to tarmac so this has been ideal.

The cantis seemed to just go on. I'm worried now that I've missed a vital piece of set up... As is the norm, I did this flying blind - no idea how, just attacked it.

Black is quicker!

It was purchased as a frameset only as I wanted the Di2. My stem is as far down as you can go (5mm spacer) and will get getting the steerer cut down asap.

It's a great bike, loving it so far

Looks good in black, especially with those wheels.

I'd be interested to hear how long the black braking surface lasts.

Haha really?

I might go and scribble on mine with whiteboard marker and pretend they're anodised.

I had a new grey rear the other month and I swear after two rides it was half gone. Dunno why they bother really!

It is a bit annoying but it's not exactly unusual to have silver brake tracks is it?

I have a pair of polished Archetypes on my Master so no worries there but I've just had some black ones built up on DT240s.
