After not riding a bike for 30 years, I decided 2 years ago to take it up to help lose weight and generally keep me fit.

In 2 years I've ridden over 3000 miles and lost circa 7 stone and spent lots of pennies on bike related stuff.

My newest purchase, it's an XXL frame, the only one in stock in the UK, not sure if any more are being floated over in this size?

2016 Stumpjumper FSR 29 Elite.

Sorry, not 56k friendly, let me know if it's an arse and I'll shrink them.

I spent ages making my mind up on frame choice. Propel and Aeroad were strong contenders but I'm very happy with my choice. I also plumped for di2 as I'm a we. Bloody love it!

Sadly it didn't stop me getting dropped at Redbridge this week. I also need to get bendy to lose some of those spacers.

Particularly fond of the cable routing.

Nice Emonda there Ponk.
Which model is it and what wheels have you got on it? What do think of it and how does it ride?
I've also been looking at the Propel and Aeroad, but the Emonda is currently top of my list for my next bike, although I've still got a couple more to try.

It's the SL frameset so the H2 geometry. A Propel would have fitted me but as you can see with the spacers I'm not the bendiest. biggrin In terms of ride, I bloody love it. It's stiff and feels agile but has a good amount of compliance at the back end.

It's been built up with a 6870 di2 upgrade kit and my existing components, wheels, power meter etc. The wheels are from 2011_cycling_2011 on eBay. Good enough for the money but the bearings do wear out in the Novatec hubs.

Nice bike smile

With that amount of spacers is the frame not too small for you?

Nope, any bigger and the reach would be too much for me. The seatpost has already been swapped for an inline post from a 20mm set back post to get me to where I was on the last bike.

It's been setup identically to its predecessor which had a 165mm headtube. The Emonda is 140mm or so which means 25mm more spacers. Losing the spacers is a work in progress, although due to my weird proportions I am lower than it looks. smile

Straight out of the box (seat dropped now) Planet-X London road, avid hydraulics, 105 chainset. Mucho impressed, my first road bike, flys compared to my MTB on 40mm road tyres smile

Year 2000 Diamondback Venom sat in a friends garage for the last 12 years, covered in dust and surface corrosion on the chrome bits. A handful of spares and lots of cleaning and it's almost as good as new;

That looks cool. Reminds me of the days as a teenage rapscallion at the skatepark - loads of lads jumping and grinding anything in sight on those type bikes.

Bit of a crap picture but it's raining so I'm not going to ride it today - may as well post about it! Picked up a 2008 Cervelo R3 frame going cheap on eBay so had my Canyon Roadlite frame swapped out:

So far I absolutely love it. First impressions are that it filters out almost all the road buzz I used to get from the aluminium Canyon, so much so it almost feels like it has rear suspension in comparison! It's probably almost a kilo lighter and you can feel that on steep hills. When you lift the frame you can now feel the weight of the wheels at either end rather than the weight distribution feeling more centred. Not entirely sure if it's any quicker (on the flat) to be honest as I've only done about 80 miles on it in mixed winds, but I dropped a framesize to get more of a saddle to bars drop so I'd be surprised if it didn't prove faster on that basis alone. I think it feels slightly stiffer and I never used to get wheel flex with the old frame and now I can sense some bending back there on hard stompy efforts, especially up hills.

Will post up a better piccie when it dries up tomorrow cool
