I've been told Giant concept stores are offering 40% off 2015 stock on 28th Nov. No idea what they'll have in stock but worth hanging on if anyone is in the market for one...
I picked up 2014 TCR Advanced Di2 from them in Feb this year for £1800 (listed at £2100 but originally £3200) I just asked what the bets price for it was and he took £300 off straight away!Granfondo said:
Up here in the a Highlands there has already been snow and the roads have been gritted so winter bike it is!
Just a gentle leg pull, wherever you ride, to be fair This is my 'winter bike'...
A 1997 Falcon Pro-Line, originally purchased as a commute bike, which became my one-for-all bike, until a long term loan of a Giant SCR 3 relegated it to the back of the garage. Six years later, I dragged it out (this February) and recommissioned it with new headset and a hub bearing overhaul, along with a lower geared cassette. Then in late October it got new mudguards and a badly needed set of modern (effective) long drop brakes.
My 'best' bike (Trek Émonda, new in March '15) hasn't turned a wheel since October 12th, and with the new brakes and mudguards going onto this 18 year old beast, it'd need several consecutive dry days to persuade me to drag the 'summer bike' out of the garage before the clocks jump forward again...
...to be honest, I'm very much rekindling my love affair with this heavy old steel bike at the moment. Climbing is certainly tougher on this than it is on the Trek, but on the flats there's nothing to separate it from my lightweight carbon fibre dream machine. Other bikes have come and gone, but this one is very much a 'Keeper'. There was no specific date on which I decided to put the Émonda to bed for the winter, I just test-rode the Falcon after doing some work on it, and had so much fun riding it that it's been my "go-to" bike ever since. When it had the original 13-23t cassette on, I hated it after so long on modern compact chainsets. Now that the 53/39 chainset up front is paired with a far more 'forgiving' 11-28t rear cassette, it has been transformed into the bike it should always have been. I can't begin to imagine how I ever got up some of the Yorkshire hills I used to ride on a 39 x 23 gear, though. I must have been proper 'nails' back then.
Happy winter miles!

One week into ownership and having ridden around 450km on it, the Giant Defy continues to rock my socks off. Quick review is that the Tiagra 4700 is flawless, the TRP Spyres seem to work very well and consistently (something that rim brakes just can't achieve in this sort of weather) and the frame is really awesome. I don't like to fall for marketing BS, but the D-Shaped seat post and dropped seat stays provide a very forgiving tail.
Very pleased. For reference I got it on the Cycle to Work scheme and paid a little extra to top it up and it was very worth doing.
Might replace the tyres with something more sturdy, and also might fit mudguards to reduce the spray. Just enjoying riding it at the moment though!

Very very true. Thanks for posting it straight after mine you git! That's a good looking bike
I was looking at the latest Giant stuff on Monday in the shop when I was collecting the bike....really like them. I have Giant love too...this has been my trusty steed since 2008
My beloved, perfect for everything I wanted, 2011 Specialized Sirrus Comp, with loads of good bits that made it perfect, was stolen in a burglary a few weeks back
It's been difficult to replace a bike that ticked every single box, but I think I've got there. Looking forward to bonding with my new 2016 Sirrus Elite Disc:
