Picked this up last night, ready for a week in The Pyrenees in mid-June.
Not sure about the 2-tone tape, but wont change it yet. Wheels will be swapped out pre-Pyrenees.
great looking bike! Not sure about the 2-tone tape, but wont change it yet. Wheels will be swapped out pre-Pyrenees.
i hope you dont mind me asking but how do you get on with those drinks bottle holders? have you had any problems with them?
i only ask as i picked up a bike tonight and i need to get a bottle holder and seen one the same design as yours but in a different colour.
i would put a picture up of the bike but itl look like a kinder egg toy compared to all the nice ones in here lol.
Yes! Got it at last! A 2 week delivery turned into 7 weeks in the end. But first ride out yesterday, felt great... I was flying! I guess that was just new bike adrenalin, but anyway... love it! It's a Bottecchia T1 Tourmalet.
I still need to cut down the stem, but need to be sure of the fit (it's slightly different to my other frame, hence not cutting it yet).
Also, note the carbon bottle cages - I (frivolously) went for them in the end. Really pleased with them, they look great!

Perfect Only bike. You've got space for a 2nd pair of tyres right
(These tyres and touring tubes = about 1.4kg, will be much lighter on 25c road tyres too)[/footnote]
Question (or two) if I may - did you need to order the B&B cable guide to go with it? And what headset did you buy?(These tyres and touring tubes = about 1.4kg, will be much lighter on 25c road tyres too)[/footnote]
Cheers!

No probs. Yes, the medium cable guide on PX site, this headset (fully integrated so fits easily without a press)Cheers!
You'll also need a pair of frame barrel adjusters for the downtube, M5 thread.
Just finished a project build for my 8 yo step son.
Picked up a Carrera Blast 24" on ebay for £25 with Deore rear mech, shifters & brake levers:
Picked up some 80mm travel Fox Floats for £50:
Stripped it down to its component parts and got the frame powdercoated:
Added a few new bits:
Bolted it all back together:
Lad now has a decent trail bike that should last him a while.
Need to change the crank set as the one fitted is a cheap stop-gap until I determine if 150mm cranks are the right length for him (original fitted cranks were 170mm) and get this:
And change the front mech to a decent Shimano one.

^ Brilliant, 150 should be spot on. BR-M335/395s would be a massive improvement for little cost as well, when he's ready.
If the BCD on those cranks is 104mm, perhaps go 30T N/W and ditch the front mech altogether (saves 500g and gives more clearance too). Built my lad similar with a normal 7sp freewheel and he copes fine.

Thanks Richard.
Had considered going single ring but will see how he gets on with current set up.
Cranks are 104 bcd and have managed in the last hour to pick up some new shimano rings for £20, so hopefully can get th crank ordered in the next week of so (funds permitting!).
I did consider changing to hydraulic brakes, but the cable ones work quite well so thought I'd stick with them for a while and it would have meant getting new shifters too.

They're Elite Custom Race cages and they're noticeably more snug brand new compared to the 3-yr old ones on my other bike - I'm using Camelbak bottles and there's no danger of them coming out.

i think i will get one but not sure which colour yet. this is my bike, dirt n all!
i have since washed it but its not in the same league as most on here
its just a cheapy one for me until i see if i get into cycling or not but i am doing some work to it/repainting the rear arms. i might upgrade bits if i get in to cycling.
