I've only done a couple, but the thing that shocked me the most was how tight my calves hurt at the start of the 2nd run. I found practice transitions of quick run, quick ride, quick run, quick ride, etc. sorted that out for my second one!

Nige is right. The bike to run transition is difficult and needs practice. Feels like someone has nicked your legs for a couple of k.

a good trick is to drop a few gears about 200m from T2 and get the legs spinning faster which will help as you get into the 2nd run...
