The picture really hit home with me, I shall be paying more attention from now on !

My thoughts are with the families at such a tragic time.

the driver has been arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter.

La Repubblica has named the driver of the car as Chafik Elketani, a 21-year-old of Moroccan origin. He is reported to have been under the influence of marijuana at the time of the crash. He was also driving without a licence, as he was serving a six-month suspension for dangerous driving.
Involuntary? Really?

Complete liability with no respect for the law or existing punishments. rage

There are well documented instances, in many countreis, of police forces adopting zero tollerance policies for 'low level' crime - parking in dsabled spaces, no-road tax et.c etc. - which net large numbers of criminals in the process. I think there are certain 'markers', traits common to those who plain do not give a fk about society or other people. Driving whislt banned, without insurance and under the inlfuence is, IMHO one of those markers. Were it that it was pursued more rigorously...

O/T cyclists, horse riders or groups of ramblers on country roads is what spooked me out of 'sporty' driving on the public highway. You just never know and the consequences for all involved are horrific. My sympathies to everyone.

There has been a recent fatality involving a car and motorcyclist at a very bad crossroads on the A34 in the village I live in. I have heard the repurcussions on both sides of the incident and it is the sort fo thing that ruins countless lives.
