Bit of a barn find, was visting my parents in Vermont over the weekend and found this at the back of the garage...

Going to ship it home and restore it to its former glory with race bars, brooks saddle and single speed. Even found somewhere where I can buy the original livery.

This is what it was sold as back in the 50's

Now a couple of questions:

how the hell do i get it back from the US without it costing a fortune!

pack it in a bike box and take it with you as excess luggage. Not got any value to speak of really so you've got 'nothing to decare'.

Might be good to buy additional luggage allowance but you might be able to wing it...

Most airlines will allow you to take a bike as luggage for a reasonable fee - I took a MTB from UK to Canada for £80

Take the pedals off, remove the handlebars and pack it in an old bike box

It has a "double clanger", is that original?

Last year, Virgin certainly let you take a bike for free on long-haul flights as long as it was packed up slightly (I took pedals and handlebars off and wrapped mine in a few broken up cardboard boxes kept together with gaffa tape)

Agreed on the Virgin front, I've done it both US to UK and UK to US for free. Just packed in a bike box that the local bike shop gave me for free. Just got to the airport in plenty of time and it was no problem at all
