Decent bike shops around Kingston ?
Discussion
Hello All,
I am on the search for a new road steed and wanted to hear any recommendations for shops around the area.
I know of Sigma as I used to deal with them way back when they where in Hinchley Wood but they may be a little to high end for me.
Budget is up to £2000 for the bike alone no gear or pedals etc required.

Already been to the new shop and I will consider them as I know they will do some discount if I ask Jason or Ian nicely, was planning on popping into the clearence store to see what they have left.
Not keen on Evans unless they have employed more staff as past experiences always seemed to have been low on the customer service front and having time to talk about what you are spending your money on, although I will most likely pop in and see if they are more willing with the Specialized concept store opening just down the road from them.
I know of Moore's but think they might be a bit limited on what they stock, any opinions on Surbiton Cycles ? or any others as I don't mind travelling a bit but would prefer local for any after sales stuff.

There is another one on portsmouth road oppposite the BMW garage that might be worth a look?
That's Surbiton Cycles, I have some time on Tuesday so will do the rounds weather premitting to see what they have. Will give Evans and Sigma a go simply to see what frame size suits me best and then if they can give me a competitive enough deal take it from there, the likes of Ribble and some of the deals online like canyon and cube are very attractive as I have been looking at the stealth from Ribble with either chorus or record groupsets, which with half decent rims slip into my budget just about.

Cheers my Dad has 2 roberts frames one road and one MTB, I am assuming he is still over Croydon way if we are talking about Chas and not Geoff ?http://www.corridori.co.uk/ do Van Nicholas titanium
Cyclopedia on the Ewell Road? Might not be high end enough for what you want though.
I know it's not Kingston, but it's not a million miles away. I used De Vers when I purchased my Hybrid, and they were brilliant.

Cheers Ladies and Gents keep them coming and option click no worries I know most of the shops round my way but wanted to see if I had missed any, I cycle past the concept store most weekends and know the guys at Sigma who are involved in the Spez concept store so had heard about it 4 - 5 months ago still yet to pop in though !
Close to Hampton station about 10min drive from Sigma's old location (not sure how far they've moved?) past Hampton Court there's a proper old bike shop called birdie bikes who do good deals on giants if you want to try that particular brand, their bread and butter is commuters & kids bikes, but they know there stuff and were great at servicing my bikes when I lived 100 yds away.

That sounds like it may be in East Molesey as I can't think of anywhere else close to Hampton Court unless you go to Hampton / Hampton HillEdited by OneDs on Wednesday 22 December 10:10
Edited to say that I found Birdie Bikes as I used to live in Hampton I know it well, maybe not what I am looking for though but thanks for the recommendation.

I only mentioned it as you may have wanted to try something like a giant TCR Advanced SL as I'm not sure there are many other Giant stockist around.OneDs said:

Dauphin arent a milion miles away and a lynskey would be top of my >£2K list....
Pablo have you been to Dauphin ? I went over the new year weekend to have a look through the window and could only see 3-4 bikes and a couple of frames and was hoping for more stock on site to try ?Cyclopedia in Surbiton are really good guys, very helpful and knowledgable albeit I generally talk to them about mtb's.
I'd personally avoid evans unless they stocked a bike I'd already researched and had on a short list. Then I'd just buy it, as I seem to know more about their stock then they do when I've been in.

Had a look in the new Specialized concept shop, first impressions were; it looks nice, its very similar in layout/appearance to the Sigma shop (who own the concept shop I understand?) and that they obviously have every bike the brand makes, as you would expect.
Thought it was an odd choice for a couple of reasons, Evans is next door and probably stock 50-60% of the bikes they do and have been around longer. Its about a ten minute walk from the new Sigma, which is all conquering, why did they want to put another one there?
Or is it just a game, what bike shop can get nearest to the holy grail that is Richmond Park, I reckon opening a shop at the entrance of that would be a freaking goldmine!
