Leave it too long upside down and the brakes will need bleeding.

I had the same issue on my Lap Zesty-emailed Lapierre as the bike was only 6 months old and they said tough st basically as its normal wear and tear..... have heard good things about those enduro BB`s so will be changing to them once mine finally packs up...did get the lbs to regrease the BB this time and seems fine for the time being. Very annoying tho and wont be buying Lapierre again as not impressed with the BB failing so soon.

fitted a chris king BB, comes with a grease port so you can purge the old stuff out. Lovely.

Is it just shimano and enduro that do press-fit? Are they trying to set a new standard, an alternative to regular screw-type BB's?

If it's HTII the problem is water and grit getting into the bearings. The standard bearings are junk, while they're fine if the trails aren't muddy, once they get near any mud, they fill with it and seize. I binned HTII off a couple of years ago, and stupidly went back to it recently. One ride and the cranks had seized. I have a Race Face tool for replacing the bearings, so will give the Enduro bearings from BETD a go soon and hope they're not as useless.

I think you're confusing two different things. Shimano's current bottom brackets (HT2) screw in to the frame like a normal bottom bracket. but the bearings themselves are press-fit into the bottom bracket. Some frames feature integrated bearing seats, so you press the bearings into the frame directly. eg BB30. Both are being discussed on this thread.

Have what I think may be a problem with my lapierre mtb bike. Its been sat in cold garage for the last month and while giving it a warm-up yesterday and some essential oils, I noticed the crank is really stiff. It doesnt seem to hamper pedalling too much but if I back pedal or rotate it back when standing, its quite stiff and not wanting to move, theres no play in it. It was in for its first service some months back at Evans and they had the crank off to lubricate it. Any ideas what is causing this? Something I can do easily or best left to the professionals?
Don't assume its the BB, its not the only thing that moves when you pedal forwards/backwards. Does it feel stiff if you unhook the chain off the rings and spin it? Most times it can be down to jockey wheels or freehub being a bit stiff, especially if you didn't clean any crap off it before it was last used.
