Went to the LBS today to try and make my mind up on one of these...

2011 Specialized Tarmac Comp

2011 Kuota Kebel 105

Different wheels and cranksets, but very similar specs.

Heart says Kebel, head says Spesh. I would be happy with either.

Which would you get (and why) ?

Please don't say that I should get a Cube or Canyon or XYZ. I have to buy from my LBS for various reasons and these are the two that stand out at this price bracket.

Cheers,
Daniel.

Kuota for the simple fact that it looks nicer! With close specs, that is all it boils down to, which one fits you best and the one you like the look of!

2 grand and you only get 105? Which one did you prefer on a test ride?

Kuota, I really don't like the look of Spesh frames

Thanks to the weak pound...

I like both. They are very similar. Main difference is compact crankset on the Kuota and 53/39 on the tarmac... not sure I am fit enough for a man's bike :-p

the tarmac comes with fulcrum racing 6 wheels which i thought was typo at first. apparently they are R7 rims on R5 hubs which goes a long way for it only having 105 imho - not that 105 is a bad thing... from previous incarnations, the kebel is probably features a little more race orientated geometry but i cant be bothered to compare them to see if thats true for the 2011 bikes.

there are stil loads of good 2010 bikes around though offering better value for money.

If I can't decide after a ride, I then buy on frame quality as components are consumables in the long run.

I have asked the LBS to get me some details on the Kuota Kebel specs.

Think I am going to go for SRAM Force gruppo and Mavic Aksiums (for now).
Watch this space.

My Boardman Team Ltd Ed is going great guns on that well known auction site wink

I got the Kebel - had it for 3-4 years ... I ride it everyday to work and race on it as well.

It has been brilliant - not a single problem at all. Had a couple of spills and it has stood up very well.

Definitely gets my vote.

Goodness that Kuota looks a lot more agressive than the Spesh. Either way it's the Kuota for me.

The LBS where I bought my Bianchi from stocks Kuota as well and they're gorgeous. The Tarmac is nice but given the choice I know where my money would go.

Good luck and enjoy!

Personally I'd choose one of these to suit the budget. You can't beat Canyon for value because they cut out the middle man.

Looks like I'm on my own here...I'd go for the Spesh. More subtle and I prefer their looks.
