Reactivating DWR coating?

I washed my Endura Event waterproof trousers with soap flakes the other day. I haven't had time to visit a friend with a tumble dryer to reactivate the Durable Water Repellent coating.
I have seen that some products can be reactivated by ironing through a tea towel. Has anybody successfully done this?
I am really pushed for time before my big wet bkle ride tomorrow and don't want to waste my time ironing if it just won't work!
