Does anyone else have experience of this system or any of these tyres?

Where do rocket rons fit in?

I see cube now selling bikes with Rons on the front and ralphs on the rear. Do the rons fit between nobby nics and racing ralphs?

Cheers.

Inane some nobby nics and so far (3 rides) I find them very good. Not sure about the rest of the range.

The Rocket Ron was designed as an out and out race tyre with a little more grip than the Ralph. The downside is that it's more fragile.

The picture you are looking at is quite old, and Schwalbe have been introducing new models across the range with different compounds and styles, so might be worth getting more detail from other sites.

I am a massive fan of Schwalbe tyres, but there have been complaints frm riders about the sidewall strength when used in rocky areas. Where I ride they are fantastic though (woodland, south-east).

What combination do you use?

I only really ride XC on road/bridle path/farm tracks etc and was looking for summer tyres. I was thinking a Racing Ralph front and a Fred on the rear would be good but was worried the Fred would wear out after a short time? I know it's sold as an XC race tyre but presumably it's fast rolling on most flat surfaces. Perhaps a Ron on the front and the Ralph on the rear is better? I'm really looking for a quick combination on fairly flat surfaces.

Ralphs front and rear will be perfect for road/bridle path/XC. Fast, light, good grip on dry terain. Approach their limits when the going gets wet.

+1
I use 2.25 Ralphs Front and Rear on the above terrain for 3 Seasons. I put a Nic on the front for winter. It doesn't take alot for this setup to get scary though. I wouldn't recommend it for anything slippery or muddy.

Ron's fit between Ralph's and Fred's.....Ralph front, Ron rear (but depends on what terrain you ride), neither are that good in the slippy stuff.

Personally i find that Schwalbe have very thin sidewalls and pinch puncture too easily. Prefer Maxxis myself!

Nobby Nic UST, better all round tyre than anything I've tried from Maxxi's or Kenda.

Did many miles last year on a Nic front and Ralph rear, nice and quick in all weather XC, the Ralph does get quite skittish in the wet, I loved the loose feeling with the planted front but it might not be for eveyone?

Well reputed tyres, the only thing that totally flummoxed them was gloopy mud, but that's to be expected

I currently ride 2.25 nobby nic evos on the front and back of my marin hardtail. They mostly used for XC all year round and have taken them to Coed Llandegla and Coed Y Brenin where they did a good job. They work well in most conditions but are lethal on wet roots, its best to hop over them providing you see them! They roll reasonably well I think but I haven't much experience of other tyres for comparison, weight is good.

I have just ordered a 2.25 R Ralph to replace a my rear tyre which has a damaged bead (not sure how), hopefully this will give a bit less drag/more zip whilst retaining the front grip. I have also ordered a pair of 2.2 Conti Racesport X-kings to see how they fair in the summer.

Best thing I ever did with my Cube was slung thte NN/RR set up it came with in favour of Trailraker 1.95s... the Schwalbes were truly awful on Northamptonshire boulder clay; don't even think about going out in the wet
