Ridden one briefly - a TSR30, I think (drops + triple). The acceleration was extraordinary, and the suspension was very effective at getting rid of road buzz and hiding the expected effects of road imperfections on small wheels. I was very impressed. Expensive, and luggage options a bit limited, I hear. Nice thing to have, no doubt.

I have one. I love riding it; so smooth. And in the right conditions, I can go faster on this than my non-suspension bike. The frame is ultra stiff but, unlike aluminium frames, the suspension counters aluminium's harshness.

They are worth it but extras can be expensive and not always easy to find and leaving it anywhere (even with lock) does cause worry.

Did the London to Brighton a couple of years back on my dads am7 jubilee (crashed my normal wheel sized bike two days before).

Took a while to get used to, couldn't believe how soft and supple the ride was due to the suspension even on skinny 140psi tyres.

Took it easy as the bikes worth a couple of grand but by the end felt more confident riding fast, reached over 50mph on the descent into Brighton carrying about 15-20kgs kg's worth of locks, toolkit, water etc... (rode in a team full of girls so ended up carrying most of their stuff) in the box on the back, don't think that would be possible on any other type of bike. Left Lycra'd up racers in replica team shirts behind smile

An interesting fact about moultons is that they set the human land speed record on level ground, unassisted in an upright position cycle back in the 80's and its never been beaten!

So you're saying they're a quick bike. Noted.

I think I'll continue to think "Aaargh, I've just been passed by a bloke on a fold-up shopper!" It might inspire me to get a wiggle on.

Ha, ha. Moultons are not fold up bikes. Their frames are separable so can be taken apart, which is quite useful. (That's if you've got the separable version of the frame).
