Hi,

Looking at the below bike on the cycle 2 work scheme:

http://www.boardmanbikes.com/hybrid/hybrid_team.ht...

Currently using a Cannondale Trail SL5 as a regular commuter bike, but it's not really suited for the job. I know there are plenty of haters regarding Halfords, but I would get a lbs to look after it (York cycleworks is literally 100m away from where I live)

It appears to get good reviews on the sites that i've looked at so far.

Thanks.

good bikes with good a good spec dont let the halfraud part of it put you off. Ask for them to keep it in the box and ask a local bike shop to assemble it no problems then.

That bike gets a good write up on bike radar just a couple of days ago.

It's a fairly new bike but last years one also had great reviews.

I think that might be the plan. The 2 shops are only 1/2 mile away from each other.

S'pose i should get some lycra for the road bike now....

+1 . i bought one of the first boardmans in 2008 and its been fantastic. well specced and totally reliable. the frame is nice and responsive ad i have read nothing to suggest that the newer bikes are any different. most people assume they are either made by halfords, owned b halfords or assembled by halfords and are wrong on all three counts. buy it online, it will be in the original box waiting for you at the store, collect it, take it home and bulid it yourself, it only invoves fitting the stem and fine-tuning the brakes and gears. a good "how to fix your bike" book might help if you are really unsure but you dont need a local bike shop to do it and there are as many stories of ineptitude in local bike shops as there are from halfords. build it yourself, get to know the bike and how it works.
