I had an old Raleigh bike that was basically left by a friend in my garden to rust away. It was garden spring clean so the bike had to go and I was going to take it to the dump on the second trip. The dump was packed so I didnt want to go for a second time.
The theory was to put it in front of the house and look away if it "went missing". Not even the dumbest thief in the world will nick something with no value so I put a "£25 ono" sign on the bike.
30 mins later a bloke says "Hi, would I take £20 for the bike?"

I was not expecting that!

I cleaned it up, lubed it up, took my £20 and he left happy!

Need more info!

'An old raleigh bike' as in a 70's or earlier? A lot of bikes that were common as muck years ago can be collectors items now. Any ideas on what Raleigh bike it was? Even if its just BMX, racer etc.

Gooby sells early to mid '90's Raleigh "MTB" with solid forks, V brakes, grip twist gears, 15 speed unwanted bike he would have had to pay to take to the dump.

I am positive it isnt worth anything, it was extracted from the back of the shed to do a retro ride. Enough people saw it who know alot about rare and collectable bikes and it went without comment.

I was keeping it about in case I have to do a london commute again, Would have been perfect to leave at the end of a platform at Waterloo, but the fame is a bit short to be comfy for me!

To be honest, I hope the guy who gave me £20 for it enjoys it!
