The "what bike bits have you just bought" thread
Discussion
These to replace a pair of RS80's that I have managed to wear through the rim......
Plan is to stick the Ksyrium Equipe S hoops on my Ti bike to my winter bike (currently wearing the RS80's), then stick the Zonda's on my Ti bike.............then I absolutely have to stop buying bike bits until I get another contract, apart from a new chain for the Colnago as it is at about 120% again.....

I'm feeling the love for Mavic rims. They do seem to be cracking VFM.
LBS even price matched the best web deal I could find on them. Not sure if the wheel/tyre integration thingy is worth the faff in the pissing down rain by the side of the road trying to refit it after a puncture though?

Neil,
I can't confirm the result of wking onto an inner tube, but i suspect he's right.
They might get you home (50% hit rate) but next time you get the bike out, it'll be flat. Just fix em the old fashioned way and be done with it =)
I have only bought them as get home fix as I have some small leavers and a tiny pump in my little under seat bag.I can't confirm the result of wking onto an inner tube, but i suspect he's right.

Admittedly they have all been on the MTB, so 40psi max. Not had to fix a puncture yet on the road bike.
Zonda's arrived today so they went straight onto the Ti bike;
Felt great, buttery smooth, freehub is almost silent, very stiff and extremely easy to spin up. Only did a quick 30 miles on them and didn't really hit any climbs yet, but they have made a noticeable difference to the ride of the bike.

Will hold your tubes to 30psi for a squishy ride home, maybe. Don't expect to do anything other than get home, remove, clean and repair properly. Leaves sticky residue like 3yr old masking tape. Use "super-patch" comes in a smaller packet, no prep accessories and works.
Local shop was closing down, 50% off absolutely everything.
Assos FI.Mille S5 Bibs
Assos IJ.Habu 5 Jacket
Last gen Ultegra Pedals
The Assos kit is usually out of my price range so I'm quite chuffed, especially as I was driving past going elsewhere when I spotted the signs; inside it was like a plague of lycra clad grasshoppers strpping the shop clean.

My freehub body gave up the ghost today - seemed to be sticking, so I took it off and it fell apart. I very nearly used man-maths to justify buying a whole new wheelset, as the ones I have are only wonky old Rigida DP18s on 90's 105 (rear) and 600 (front) hubs. However, the Rigidas look cool, and modern ones would look silly on the bike, so I just bought a replacement freehub body...
...and then, when I was putting everything back together, I noticed that the LH cone is has a massive pit in it
Still, it should last a bit longer until I can justify/afford a proper new bike in year or two. I'm not sure it's worth sinking too much time and money into a franken-bike based on a carbon frame built in 1995.
