A merino "jersey" and a pair of £15 roubaix bib tights from Planet X. Looking forward to my new 2 x 22km commute this autumn!

How does the Planet X stuff size?

Mike
Small!
And what are the bib tights you've linked like? Worth a go?

Herebemonsters, I have no idea who you are and I have never met you but jeez I'd happilty lend you my spare bike for a few months to save you from that pile of st you are contemplating, I'm serious, step away from the BSO...
To be honest, I have plenty of bikes that can step in, I just wanted something to fiddle with until my new roadie arrives!

I guess I'll start stripping down my steel frame, and look into how I can make it into a fixie without proper drop-outs.

I'm starting to think that the next Pedal Powered gathering will take place in Belkin bibs and PH jerseys. wink

Ordered. £15 for some decent bibs? They'll do commuting duty.

My belkin kit has touched down......:-)

very pleased for £33.

sizes are bob on but I did go up a size on the bib shorts. I measured for medium on their site but the large is about right for me.

Will let you know when I'm back in the uk next week - was too tight to pay the £8 delivery to Europe!

I put a hole in my dhb Vaeon Roubaix bib rights last winter - they were truly excellent but thought I'd go even cheaper this time.

Camelbak I ordered from a German ebay store still hasn't arrived, seemingly the seller didn't bother to ship it for a week and a half, which was nice. But should be here tomorrow.

In the meantime stocking up on a couple of other holes in my kit...

Endura shorts, really like these, hope they last...

And a rear light, as I've lost my cat eye that I've had for nearly 20 years and now can't find at all...

My Belkin kit arrived yesterday too. Was curious as to the manufacturer of the kit before it arrived but it is all branded up Giant clothing so the quality is good. I went large on the bibs and they are a really good fit, was a toss up between M or XL for the jersey and I will need to keep up the miles to stay in it. Good motivation maybe. Not that it really matters as I will only be wearing it on wet days under my jacket to satisfy my 'no team kit' rule!

That surprised me to and the t shirt I ordered came in a Santini bag too. I would have thought that bibs would have come with skin grippers though.

Got to try it all on tonight as I was at a screening of Half the road last night, so didn't get the chance.

I've just ordered this from Planet X's ebay store. Its an ex demo frame, so it was a bargain. Not the lightest carbon frame out there, but I've always loved the colours and it will be fine for what I want smile

It will be fitted out with Pro Logo Saddle, 3T bars, Planet X stem, FSA chainset and the SRAM Force/RS80s off my current road bike.

Might not finish it till the end of the year, but it will look brilliant when its all done.

Long term, I will probably put SRAM Force 22 on it and some 38mm carbon clinchers from Ebay.

Well, don't order anything from an ebay store German seller with a name that might be named after a model of iPod.

Didn't ship my Camelbak Mule NV for nearly two weeks, then to be fair, when I did kick them up the arse it arrived pretty quickly.

Unfortunately they've sent the wrong model, its the basic Camelbak Mule and not the NV. Have emailed them, no response, so escalated to a case with ebay as I'm sick of arsing around chasing them.

In the meantime, reordered from the US, it shipped within a few hours of order and it should be here Tuesday/Wednesday. Pretty confident ebay will rule with me and I'll get a refund, its not the correct model, their ebay listing lists all the NV specs and pictures, and the title also has NV in it. I've also screen shotted their listing on every inch in case they play silly buggers.

The only thing I haven't bought from my LBS and its been a right PITA.

[Mod Edit] store name removed under the fairly clear name and shame rules. Thanks.

I rode with the bib shorts today, couldn't bring myself to wear the jersey aswell - too FPKW for me wink !

As almost all my other jerseys are in my favourite colour scheme (red / black / white - hence not matching the Belkins) I had to wear a black one, with a high-viz vest over the top as I thought I wasn't visible enough.

God, I sound vain don't I?

I was looking at getting a bike to have set up on the turbo trainer to use through the winter, something in the £300-400 price range but as ever when it comes to bikes, something more expensive always seems like a bigger bargain confused

In the end I figured that if I got something cheap I'd end up wanting to upgrade bits and bobs like wheels and tyres etc so rather than that I bought something with a decent spec to start with.

So here's the new addition to the garage, a 2014 Cube Peloton race with full 105 groupset and Mavic Aksium S wheels smile

One of these for my son, with a 12-28 cassette rather than the 12-25 as supplied and black bar tape.
His first road bike, he's quite chuffed...

Thanks smile

Ordered some more bits.

ProLogo Saddle

Planet X Superlight Stem.

Fizik Performance Bar Tape in white. The performance tape is pricey, but its been the best stuff I tried. Its comfy and isn't falling apart unlike the Cinelli stuff that I had before.

I've still got to choose some bottle cages. I'm quite liking the union jack Elite bottle cages. I haven't chosen my bars yet. I've missed out on some 3T bars on Ebay, so I shall probably go for some Chinese carbon ones smile
