My current one is beyond washing now! I've had it about 5 years, and must have done 10,000 or more miles. I'm very sweaty, generally, and the lining has rotted to bits. I don't think they make it any more, so replacing the lining bits is a no go too.

Plus, I wanted a new one!

I've highlighted the real reason - now admit it to yourself wink Like how you "think" they don't make it anymore, you clearly haven't checked because you want a new helmet hehe

Stop you getting a face full of the muck that's flung forward from your front tyre.

Good choice, been very pleased with my TRP brakes, changing the toe in is done by putting an allen key in the pad holder, very simple and effective.

On account of the foul weather of late, a new torture device in a rather fetching shade of blue:

As above, i've never seen them until somebody on here mentioned them the other day.

Went on a cross country ride last weekend with some road going and everytime i was riding down a bit of road mud was flinging up and blinding me. So hopefully this will help!

The back mudguard will just be used for commuting to work wink

Went to the LBS today and went a bit nuts (only went in for a track pump), new s/s jersey, some arm warmers, the afore-mentioned pump, a presta insert, oh thats £91 best round it up, I'll have a quick patch kit (nice item this 2 sticky patches, a tiny sand paper, a tiny tyre lever and 4 hand wipes in a pack about 8mm thick and 50mmx50mm) and 2 co2 canisters for luck.
I don't buy online on principle, as I work for a small independent in another line of business, but I could have saved myself £73 if I did smile

Probably not very exciting to you lot, but a giant leap for me... I've just bought a set of these from my LBS:

And a pair of these from Chain Reaction to go with them...

The guy in the LBS said that in exchange for buying the pedals from there, rather than the t'internets, he'd help me to position the cleats correctly in the shoes, which seemed a fair exchange for paying a tenner more for the pedals.

These are for road use - I wanted a system which gave me shoes I could actually walk in and with the double-sided cleats, more than I needed the last 10% of efficiency which SPD SLs would have provided. Literally can't wait for the shoes to arrive so that I can get going - never had clipless pedals before and I'm excited to see what a difference they'll make.

we all have stories. my uncle was on about getting some and i told him to be prepared to fall off at least twice. he's a BIG guy and in his 50s.

He decided against it in the end tongue out

my story: main road T junction on filter traffic lights. came to a stop, toppled over..... lights go green.... much embarrasment...

A few components, rear mech, rear cassette, chain and brake pads, I only took the bike in for a quick service, £140 later and 2/3 of the drive train has been replaced. previously it was a full bearing replacement, I think Cannock Chase and my maintenance regime aren't great for longevity.

Am I right in thinking only the 800 does directions, not the 500? Looks lovely either way smile
