I confused the chap in pedal heaven today asking for summer socks, he asked if I wanted some yellow insulated ones. My response was why would I need insulated socks in Tenerife?
"You bd" was Jakes response!
Cannot wait to get on the 6.5kg Durace hire bike!
My jealousy is beyond measure, it was bad enough till you mentioned the hire bike....

So the Charge has turned up today, any good advice on setting up cable operated disc brakes?

They vary I'm afraid. I'd start hitting up youtube for the tutorial videos.

Some are easy (BB7R takes a minute per brake, monthly) some are a pain (BB5s I've spent all night trying to get them right before a ride and have two settings, rubbing badly or "don't work at all" in my experience)

Feckin PF30, heap of st. Swapped it today for this. It joins the two outers with a threaded piece which helps transfer the power away from just the frame cups. When the bearings do need changing they can be swapped out so although this time has cost £90 next time it's the cost of a pair of bearings.

Yonex, is this to replace PF30 or BB30? What is it? Been looking at the Traxis BB to replace my Bb30 but keep bottling it. Would be interested to know how you get on?

It's replacing a PF BB30, retains the two bearings but has a threaded piece which pull the housing together. Torque goes through the tube to you don't hammer the bearings over 20 degrees all the time. Then you can replace them, cheaply.

Praxis are great, go for it.

PlanetX has a lot to answer for with their sales tactics. I have a Mary bar on my road bike and I'd like something similar on my hardtail... only I wanted something wider. I think their Og bar is that wider bar, so I've taken a punt.

And while I was leafing through their website, a pair of £20 panniers caught my attention. They're not waterproof but I don't ride in the rain, and I'd wrap anything up I wanted to keep dry anyway. £20. Couldn't say no.
I'm happy with the Og bar. It's wider than the Mary on my other bike, and slightly less swept-back.

I found a shorter stem in my "stash" since taking the pic too - and I reckon I may have found the nirvana of comfort now.

And I bought a set of Whyte's ergonomic grips too - I'm now confident that all flat-bar bikes should have these (I have them on 3 of our bikes so far).

Yonex, Sorry I meant praxis, think the auto correct did it's normal thing! Do you have the praxis one? Can I ask where you got it, I'm struggling to work out where to order from? Are you running a Shimano chainset?
