I've just had a Muc Off Chain cleaning machine delivered:

I had been dropping hints for Christmas, but none bought me it, so ordered it myself. The plan is to give my bike a good clean tomorrow after some very muddy rides over the last few days.
I've got a Park Tools version of the same thing. I use a tin of Gunk from Halfords, loads cheaper than the recommended degreaser and lasts forever - gets the chain clean enough to eat your dinner off.
£3.56 delivered if anyone wants one.

Just ordered a gilet from Shutt's eBay outlet - usually retails at £75 but it's sold as a second for £24.99 because of imperfections with the lettering (just hope the imperfection isn't a spelling mistake like 'CT').

Just ordered a set of Rotor chainrings in 52/36. No need for the aero but I just couldn't help myself!

Picked up a couple of lights from Decathlon. Very impressed with the blue one, on sale for about a fiver and bloody bright!

Was also eyeing up the Rockrider 8.3 they had on sale for £700, which would have been tempting if I hadn't already ordered a new bike the day before...

I was in agony after today's ride, my feet were that cold.

So, these bad boys are on order.

I have found that despite wearing overboots my feet are still getting cold, I think the issue is teh cold air coming through the sole of the shoe. Winter boots seem to be the order of the day.

Hopefully I'll be back out on the bike tomorrow night, I've not been on it since november.

I've resorted to too pairs of socks and two sets over overshoes when its almost freezing and below! Waterproof Endura pair over shoes then a pair of Mavic Thermo plus on top of those. Was -4 when I set out yesterday and feet stayed warm all day.

It has just been suggested on our club's page that wrapping your feet in foil is also a good way to keep them warm. Worth a try.

To be fair it didn't get above freezing on yesterday's ride, so was an extreme day.

That's quite a bundle. PlanetX really do do those well.

My 1st order from Planet X, I will be keeping an eye on their future offers.

It seems reasonable quality for the price, I didn't want to invest too much as I'm hoping it won't fit when the winter comes around again.

I've heard this too so tried it on Sunday. Didn't work. If it's meant to act as a windproof layer then a non-conductive material (e.g. sandwich bag) is probably better. Alu foil will simply act to conduct heat away from the foot (it's metal after all).

Space blanket material (Mylar) would probably work better.

Bought a Cycleops Fluid 2, matt and block second hand for £100

Then realised that my Orange Gyro wouldnt fit in it because of the bolt through rear axle! [frown]

The answer? Buy a road bike!

So, picked up a 2014 Specialized Allez Sport for £540 in the sales

Surely both will just make your feet sweat - and then colder due to them being wet?
