Just got my new selle smp stratos saddle fitted by my LBS (wanted it set correctly as they also did my bike fit service)
The ride back was not long at all but immediately felt more comfortable. Plan on 35-40 miles tomorrow so will see what it's like then!
Just to quote myself for anyone interested in this....did my 1st ride to break it in (possibly not wise making it over 40 miles) but bugger me it felt so much nicer. Don't get me wrong, it's not like sitting on a comfy arm chair but I'd say it cut the levels of my discomfort to around 25% of what I'd normally suffer. The ride back was not long at all but immediately felt more comfortable. My most recent purchase was a work stand. My next purchase will be a bottom bracket.
New bike posting... Sadly not N+1 as N broke (it was a lovely Colnago C50, killed by a broken seatstay lug).
I’ve got more spare time than usual for cycling at the moment, and so wanted to get something pretty quickly as a carbon summer bike. While I’d have loved to have got a C60 to replace the C50, I didn’t want to wait 6 months for them to glue one together in my abnormal size, not to mention the fairly salty asking price.
I looked at some cycling forums for inspiration and then at various frames that were available in the local bike shops, but didn’t find one in a shop that particularly appealed, or that was available in my size. Then I remembered I’d recently been admiring a clubmate’s Canyon, and found that their website showed stock immediately available in the right size. The Ultimate CF geometry was pretty close to the C50, but with slightly longer reach. The Endurace was also possible, but maybe a bit too short in reach. The temptation of a pro-race frame was too much, and in the end I figured I may as well go for the Ultimate SLX over the SL, as I don’t buy frames that often and might as well get the top version, and save a few grams too.
So, I pressed the button on a size 2XL Ultimate CF SLX, and it arrived on my doorstep ten days later. I also ordered a 110mm stem to get the reach to where I wanted it, as that size frame comes from stock with a 120mm stem. Separately I bought a 2015 Chorus UT chainset as the old one wasn’t reusable with the new frame
Next, a few happy hours in the garage transferring bits over from the old bike. No real problems encountered other than needing a really short rear brake nut, my friendly local bike tech obliged with a titanium one. The only other issue was pressing in the BB cups, but my mate came over with his Giant Nut and Bolt, which made short work of the job.
So here’s the result. I think it looks pretty good, but will do something about the bottle cages ASAP, already have some better matching ones on order. In due course I’ll buy 11 speed levers/mechs/cassette, but apart from that I’m very happy with it. I’ve been out for one decent ride on it already, and it feels amazingly stiff and responsive after the C50, if not quite as good at soaking up road buzz, but that is much as expected.
Total weight is 7.25kg, which is not bad at all when you consider that it’s a big frame, and generally mid-range rather than super-light parts.

Sounds brilliant, they definitely seem t be popular among owners. I need to get over the price tag first though!
How expensive was your bike? If you do a lot of miles you spend so many hours sat on a saddle, might as well make it a gold one. Rrp is £195 bug wiggle currently selling for £127.

Will have to wait a while though. My bike related spend recently has been pretty brutal.

Couldn't Colnago replace the lug?I did find an outfit in the UK who would have a go at fixing it, but given where the break is, it's not an easy repair, so I wasn't confident about entrusting my life to it.

I've just got these today! Fulcrum Racing 3. Gives me the option to go tubeless to if I want. Cant wait to get out and see how they compare to my old Fulcrum Racing 7CX's
Got a set of 2012/13 era racing's 3's may well get another as you can get them at wiggle for a good price. Also looking at Cero A30 or whatever there £329 wheels are. Bike is getting a semi-rebuild next week and I'm quite looking forward to it!
New Swiss-stop brake pads, new chain, new Ultegra rear mech (replacing 105), new cassette (replacing 11-28T with 12-30T....I typically spin a high rpm so this will suit me better for some of th e hills around the South Downs in which I ride frequently)
Also getting a gold service by velocity bikes. Basically, I'm useless with a spanner and these guys are sh*t hot....by a country mile the best bike service centre I've ever used
http://www.velocitybikes.co.uk/index.asp?upid=22&a...
So that could entail new bearings etc as well.
I got this done around 2 years ago and it came back feeling literally brand new, was utterly incredible.
Can't wait to get it back afterwards
