Very interested in your thoughts on the Farsports. I'm always pondering but never feel confident enough to click "yes" biggrin
Same. I've been toying with the idea of getting a set of Reynolds Assaults but the Farsports look like they are about 1/2 the price. I like the idea of being able to walk into the LBS with the Reynolds wheels if there is a problem which you wont have with the Chinese wheels.

P
I suppose only time will tell! I think everyone has reservations about how they will last in seriously hilly conditions including myself ... no plans for any Alpine adventures but would look at taking an alternative set of wheels. I have a brand new set of Swisstops on the bike and braking is as per the Wheelsmiths in the dry. Wouldn't be suprised if the rims weren't out of the same factory.
I've heard that the swisstops are very aggressive on the rims, hence our use of cryoblue, if they are hotter then I'd be a bit concerned I think.

Anyone have any recommendations on a hook to put in walls to hang wheels on? (from somewhere like B&Q I guess rather than bike specific).
Any decent length heavy duty screw with a bit of hosepipe 'sleeved' over it?
That would work, but trying to make it look as nice as possible; I've got an area in my garage now with the new shiny bike on a bracket on the wall and the commuting bike fixed but on floor. Whole wall being done in carpet and roof too so when I lift nice bike up it doesn't mark against bricks. So looking to do it a bit more specifically, really.

B&Q, wickes etc do plastic sleeved wall hooks ideally suited to that.

A pair of Pro3's after splitting a sidewall on my Senso's last weekend, then doing the same thing on my spare set of Pro3's this weekend..........typical of my bloody luck at the moment!

Did you get anywhere when you contacted Vredestein over your initial senso tyres, you had a complaint didn't you?

Still buing old batches of Tricomps, I switched to schwabe ultremo ZXs as they came on a new bike, but the roads deformed them after a few months, something that never happened to Tricomps

It wouldn't surprise me as they seem very grippy! I may try the pads which came with them.

Braking is one thing we've never had an issue with like you read about even in the wet. The cryoblue are pretty grippy too.

B and 1 sell the Kenovo modular racking system, I have one strip with the bike hangers as below, lots of different attachments available that just click onto the strip:

We have some farsports on my wife's bike the same as those above.

Also have a set of Reynolds Attack from 2013 with the ctg brake track.

I've used both extensively with the Reynolds cryo blue pads.

Both wheelsets are very good but the Reynolds definitely are a cut above in terms of quality, feel much more solid.

My wife got some deformation of the brake track on the rear of the Farsport rim and a defect in the valve hole caused a worse problem in this area and caused a buckle. In fairness this was on a serious hilly ride on poor roads with big descents then the Fred Whitton which they're not really designed to do.

Pics below (original dimensions are 17mm internal, 23mm external).

You can just see a defect in the carbon layup here too, in the same area as the valve hole:

Farsports sent a new rim under warranty but it needs building up with the existing hub and spokes.

The Reynolds are bombproof, I did all of the above and more on them and they're still perfect.

Plan now is that she use the farsports for flat(ish) riding and the Reynolds everywhere else.

Price wise, I spend £490 including import duty on the Farsport and bought the Reynolds used on Bike Radar for £400, I'd say the latter were the better buy overall.

Perfect. Thanks for the info. I have a set of C24's that I want to put away and use for trips to the Alps so the plan is to get something that can cope with everything else the UK has to offer. I'll get the Reynolds and give the Farsports a wide berth.

Matt are those wheels the C50's?

If so how do you find them?

Yeh 7850 C50, lovely wheels, beautiful hubs, held speed well, approx 21mm wide at the brake track so not mega wide but wider than a lot of rims around at the time, quite weighty due to the ali brake track though.

Used them on my local 10 TT mainly and a few fast club runs, sold them on when I broke my hip earlier in the year but have just replaced them with some Archetypes on DT240.

After rave review from a club mate and after reading the online reviews I've just ordered a set of Cero AR24 wheels.

A claimed weight of 1550g and a set of Continental Grand Sport 25c tyres all delivered for £190, I'd be mad not to go for these.

Edit to remove the HUGE picture, soz.

After much deliberation I have ordered a set of new Hoops.

24F/28R V1 Pacenti SL23 rims, Black CX-Ray spokes, black alloy nipples built into Shimano Dura Ace 9000 hubs. Should be 1520g.

These will replace a set of Racing 3's which are now permanently out of true.

Nice, will be very similar to my newly acquired wheels.

Matt, I was going to get the latest SL23's but there aren't in the country in the hole pattern I need until the 28th July, that would make them being ready for RideLondon a push.

Malcolm at Cycle Clinic was most helpful and his guarantee on the wheels looks good.

Make sure you use a torque wrench, correct and equal torque on the chainring bolts is imperative.
