A last minute, "st, I'm going on holiday soon and am nowhere near ready!" purchase of some Shimano Ultegra 6800 wheels to replace the robbed-from-another-bike and rainy-day-spare combination of RS10 (old, worn...just the thing you want on an Alpine descent!) and R500 (weights just a little less than the Earth, roll about as well as a house). Couldn't stretch to the RS81s, but these look to be the next best bang-for-buck wheels around. £210 new inc. QRs so can't complain really!

Both our Garmin hrm failed apparently the 'fix' is to cut between the two poppers and seal it with a lighter so it ends up like this *)(* stops a short circuit caused by salt , washing won't fix it.
Cheers -,I'll give that a shot. No shortage of duff ones to try it on.
Just done mine and its working properly again, will test ride it tomorrow.

Still just as comfortable as it was too.

8 pairs of 95p sunglasses from aliexpress just turned up, tried the chromatic ones today; actually quite impressed, fit was good, weight low and they took the glare off without being too dark which let my eyes adapt quickly when I went into shade.
Bought in clear, yellow, chromatic and smoke 2 of each.

I recently got some 3t carbon ergonova bars, got them for £150 I think, they had a £250 rrp but we're quite heavily discounted. I really like them. I can't compare directly to my old bars as my old bars were 4cm wider but the 3t ones do seem to dampen vibrations that bit better. In really liking them. Hope you do too.

Oh.... They're hilariously light too!
Hi E65Ross,
I got my 3T bars for £190 which were heavily discounted from Chain Reaction.
I chose them for their profile, lightness and vibration damping.
I'll let you know what they ride like after I've fitted them.
I really like them. I don't regret buying them at a!

Since getting a road bike my hybrid has sat in the shed. Fancied a bit of track riding so quick check over new pedals and grips and ready for some soft roading.

Mate of mine has just opened his own bike shop/service place in Pangbourne called Pankhurst Cycles in Horseshoe Road. He will be doing all of the usual current stuff, but is specialising in classic/vintage bikes, spares, and restoration.

Based on your Gazelle I think you would love it in there........wall to wall vintage bike porn!

A snap I took yesterday on his official opening as a taster.....

Ordered one of these bikes in anticipation of winter commute & training:

Thought it looked a good deal considering the spec. Out of interest has anybody got one already?

B'Twin Tribans usually get the nod. I started with a Triban 300 and would recommend them at that price. They're also selling off outgoing models so you could get even better value if they still have your size.

Awesome, Bikes seem relatively cheap from what I remember.

Gonna sound like a complete novice, but will a road bike take an occasional bump up kerbs and cut through few meters of grass etc, or should I look at mountain bike ?
Yes, road bikes are not as delicate as you first imagine. Do keep your tyres pumped up to a decent pressure though as that makes all the difference.

Lots of stuff.........

Once I have finished the build I will reveal all!!!!
I present to you a 2000 Diamondback Venom which had been sat in a friends garage for the last 12 years. After much elbow grease, a dab of turtle wax, a couple of capfuls of brasso, new tyres, brake cables, seat, chain and grips it's almost as good as new! Total cost - £30!!!

To be fair I won't be riding it, I re-built it so my son has a set of wheels for the summer hols...

Mavic CXP33 with Ultegra hubs. Not the greatest wheels in the world I'm sure, but they're a huge improvement over the standard wheels on my Synapse.

Final price was a hair over £140 with the discount voucher I got from Rose Bikes in "compensation" for the fork recall on my Pro DX Cross ☺
