Cheers for the replies.

It was the £52 for a set that piqued my interest. Lots of similar quality gumwall clinchers are pricey, although I regularly check to see if there are any deals. I want a pair to set my '90s bike off properly, like the original look it had when it was new, with Michelin Tracer tyres on it.

Those Veloflex Masters look the part, and at a fairly digestible price too. I'll be wanting tyres that are happy on gravel too, so that means that 'suitable' and 'affordable' may be mutually exclusive. I'll keep looking for now.
I ran Veloflex Masters for the last year or so and was impressed with them (also they look great). I've just swapped to Vittoria Open Pave but these aren't gum wall so although they coped admirably with the closed road covered in gravel and holes I accidentally tackled this weekend they don't look the same...

Noticed a lot of noise when I'm out of the saddle/ climbing lately, took it in yesterday and the shop confirm the BB is knackered so

Also, while I was there we noticed the carbon blade in one pedal is cracked and needs replacing, and the tension is the other has dropped, so I've been looking for Look Keo Blade replacement spring kits... However the only ones I'm fining available are for Blade 2, which won't fit my pedals.

Anyone know where I could get some from? My searching has proved fruitless. Otherwise I'll be adding new pedals to this thread, Keo Blade 2 Carbon Ti if I need to.

Also waiting to hear back about some Q Rings to for my SRAM Force BB30, the ones I ordered before didn't fit so I'm hoping these OCP3 versions will be the ones.

eTap?

I've heard it's slightly slower than Di2 but has a more positive click when changing.

Would be interested to hear your thoughts.

Very nice. Also interested to hear your thoughts.

What does everyone think of the new Rotor Uno hydraulic setup?

I was so close to doing february with zero bike spend before I bought that POC Octal, but hey when the dam is broken go with the flow...
SKS Raceblades x2, 1 for jr's Kinesis one for my Trek winter hack.
2x Decathalon 1l hydration pouches because someone forgot to dry the last ones out and they went so furry a new breed of bacteria was discovered.
Some Giro 2 bolt SPD shoes, and cleats.

Finally I realised I'd need something to hang it all off so I bought a
https://www.evanscycles.com/pinnacle-arkose-four-2... to hang it all off.

Before some clever dick points out that's not a bike bit, neither is it a bike as it has no fecking pedals.

oh and I'm selling the Trek I bought the guards for, hope they fit the arkose!

My search for Keo Blade springs has turned up precisely nada.

So I've ordered these

I was set on the Ti ones. They are £152. After looking about it seems the Cr ones are only 40g heavier and can be had for £78 delivered. So older and wiser me has done exactly that. Feel quite proud of myself hehe

Also I've ordered the OCP3 Q Rings to fit my SRAM Force BB30.

Managed to get a great deal, both outer 53T and inner 39T for £99. Considering the cheapest I've seen is £149 for both I'm very happy.

Will take to the shop to fit while they do my BB.

I have SRAM Force on my road bike and I really like the shifting and if I ever build my dream bike, I would like the new E-Tap system. I'm hoping that they will launch a Force version in a few years and drop the price.

When you have installed the system and been for your first ride I think many people would be really interested in a dedicated thread.

I'l be interested to see how many of the Pro Tour teams go with E-Tap.

Just bought an Altura long sleeve jersey for a crazy price from Merlin Cycles

Also, my new Castelli Aero Race jersey from the LBS arrived today - it's very very tight but seems nicely made. Other than gloves I haven't had any Castelli kit before so it'll be interesting to see how it compares to my favourite Assos and Pearl Izumi tops.

Refresh of the Madone in preparation for this season ... DA brake and gear cables, Ultegra chain and cassette ... too tight to pay for DA wink ... and a 'mans' chainset from CRC which worked out at £232 after 10% BC discount biggrin

In contrast to the above I've just bought a girl's chainset - more and more lumpy rides in preparation for Quebrantahuesos and 53-39 is just too much like hard work.

105 is cheap as the proverbial, and takes no time at all to swap over.

Your Girls Chainset will be fine. I can't recall spinning a 50x11 out very often. At a cadence of 110rpms your rear wheel will be doing 39.1mph when on a 53x11 it'll be doing 41.5mph. Unless of course you are Mark Cavendish and end up in bunch sprints with pro riders often.

All the guys I ride with have compacts and like hills - if I really can't live with the 50 then I'll go for a 52/36 semi-.

And a full 11spd groupset to go with it.

And a new bike to put it on.

Hmmm...

Just pulled the trigger on a J Laverack Ti frameset for my Transcontinental bike. Slightly customised from standard with a threaded bottom bracket and a narrower 31.8mm seat tube for a 27.2mm seatpost. Full Di2 integration and, hopefully, a custom graphic.

It's just the frame at the moment, without the fork. I really want something with a fork crown bolt so that I can mount the dynamo light there and the standard issue Whisky fork doesn't have one. Any suggestions for a suitable alternative? Carbon, disc brakes, good clearance, 1.125-1.5" tapered steerer. Tidy dynamo integration a bonus.

Will depend on crown to axle, rake etc... Enve forks aren't drilled for their disc offerings from what I've seen.

What about this?

My lbs Kinetic cycles in Welwyn, they gave me a lot of help in choosing the new rims, so they got my money. Cost is £380 fully set up to run tubeless included in the cost, but I'm supplying the tyres and valves.

They will be on on the new pro 4 hubs as well, and given the above it was a no brainier. Total cost is only about 40 more than online.
