I don't need it, and its extravagant, but I am debating trying to get hold of the H1 Madone frame to build a bike around - seems its out of stock everywhere, and I am wondering what the extra grand gets you over the H2 version...
What about an Aerfast? Love the Madone though, very trick bits of kit. I'll stick with the vag for another year, it's still faster than I am smile

Quite like the idea of being able to do custom colours on the Trek, plus it will match my TT bike biggrin

I've been a bit silly recently :
New mtb is on the way shortly : Spec stumpy expert (got a half decent deal through a mate)

Have put a new groupset on the supersix ready to race this year : only ultegra (it was 10 speed ult beforehand anyhow)
New groupset on my commute bike : shimano rather than the sram that was on there
Stages powermeter for the parlee (as I don't want to lose the DA groupset, and I'm not changing the hub on my enve's)

So now i have a whole bunch of stuff I need to get rid of!
oh well : all part of the fun i guess...

Surely they would not be wanting a grand for geo?
Only difference I can spot via a quick scan is the carbon fibre.

The Madone 9RSL H1 is 700 Series OCLV carbon, whereas the 9 H2 is 600 Series OCLV carbon. Presumably all the other differences are in the geometry?

The H1 frame shows as "please contact" which does very much suggest it's not available right now from Pedal On. Certainly Trek UK's site is saying "contact your retailer" which means no central stock. Sadly, unless you can find a retailer with shop floor or local warehouse stock, you would seem to be out of luck...

...shame, as it looks like a really nice bike. frown

Yeh, I'll have a chat with Sigma, if anyone can get one, they will be able to, but I fear you're right.

In the meantime I've just had my Royce hubed Archetype wheels looked at, it was rough and sticking, so I thought a simple bearing change was in order, dropped them off with my new localish wheelbuilder (noble wheels, good bloke!) and he found inside that they were TOTALLY fked, if you go on his instagram he took a pic, first time he had ever seen it - a rather large bill to get that sorted frown

Tart. The only issue I have with the Madone, in fact any of the new breed of integrated bikes, is that you're tied to various suppliers. I like DA brakes and how easy they are to mess with on the fly. Pissing about with allen keys adjusting brakes gets on my nerves, everything is going to be more work maintenance wise. Having just hammered (really) my forks out of the aero cap which had seized on I do wonder if any of the new breed of superbikes are actually meant to be ridden in anything other than sunshine and with a full compliment of mechanics biggrin Looking at the geometry on the H1 all I can say is 'ouch'

Looks like h1 is the way forward then. Though I have to take with a pinch of salt a review from a 3rd cat who barely finished a race last year - would be like having me test a 458 Italia round a race track and writing a review...

I can see his point on the brakes, they'd piss me off. but on the fit, meh. Depends on the rider? Lastly the gears, do people really still get caught up with worrying about compacts, stick 23-11 on the back FFS!

A good example of why I don't buy many cycling rags.

I only buy Cyclist for the pictures and touring articles.

CW is free online on 1 week delay via local library; how people pay £3 per week for it I don't understand!

Bit of a strange one to pick up on in the article, I agree. Surely a decent bike shop selling a £8,500 bike would swap the crank to your choice for free?

I was looking at the Trek Madone 9.2 on Saturday and really wanted to like it but it's bloody ugly but a great ride by all accounts.

Does this count?

Yes, it's a battery powered, aim-able water pistol for the front of my bike. Should make my commuting buddies work a bit harder...

I have recently got myself back into MTB again following a relatively long absence. Stuff I've bought this month:-
Boardman Comp HT, which is absolutely brilliant. I'm in the process of building myself a new full suss based on the frame of a mates old Orange Patriot I've just bought from him.
Some offensively bright Troy Lee shorts from CRC.
Endura Gloves in Red, being a tart it pleases me that it matches the frame of both my bikes well.
A new helmet. I have saved a lot getting these in the sale which is nice.

Treated myself to a new nice weather helmet. This won't be used on the commute at all. It's a Kask Mojito. Always wanted one since I saw them being used by Team Sky a couple of years ago. I generally don't like Team Sky clothing fan boi look, but thankfully this isn't in the team colours and I do like the union jack theme smile

Got it from Wiggle. Decent price and I gave the Haribo to Mrs B, so that keeps her quiet and doesn't question the purchase biggrin

Going to replace my five year old commuter helmet in the winter. Going to go for a high viz yellow one. I cycle though the centre of London everyday, so I take any opportunity to make myself more visible to other road users. Probably going to get a Giro Savant.

New laces for my 5:10s after snapping one just before my last ride, took the opportunity to clean the shoes too, I'd forgotten they were black, rather than brown...

tis a different Carbon Lay-up and the frames are made in the US (so mainly Labour and a little made in Wisconsin stamp). All the H2s are made in Asia. Is it worth the premium, dunno. I needed a H1 fit, but due to a pricing screw up in my favour Trek honoured the H1 @ H2 price (or rather I got a free Quarq of it).

The new aero brakes are very good, I thought they had more bite than the DA ones on my other bike.

Bespoke have a demo day today / tomorrow in the Wharf, they have a Demo 9.9 to ride. Also out was a Vias, Cannondales, Colnagos, Parlees, Masons etc.
