The rubber bands on standard garmin mount snapped so figured I needed something a bit more robust:
Am I being thick? doesn't the 1/4 turn bit end up under the stem?

Charge Spoon saddle - in, er, brown. Looks good with a grey frame, and v comfy.

Mount replaces a 5mm spacer and goes between stem and top-cap, which is fine if you've got a 5mm spacer spare to remove above the stem.

SealSkinz waterproof merino wool socks - these are super toasty, but not sweaty.
Was looking at these on sport pursuit but friend said theirs only strayed waterproof for a week when used for running. What's your experience of them, anyone else used them for cycling?

I guess for running they might not be so good. I imagine the way they're washed will be a big influence to lifespan too.

I've literally only used them once and it wasn't wet, but was a bit chilly, so too early to say.

Read a very unfavourable review on them recently, that was for hiking use not cycling but they said they didn't stay waterproof & weren't very comfortable. They did say they were warm as even when wet they were windproof.

Very different use - I imagine for high rub use in running/hiking the material may not be up to it. When I'm off roading in winter with SPDs I don't ever get the feeling my feet are moving around that much in my shoes - the test will be when I do a nice cold ride after some heavy rain and I'm sticking my feet in muddy bog holes!

Put my toe through some Mavic merino socks on their first ride (180k) it's just not a strong enough material imo.

I've spent the last year running up and down wet hills and mountains in merino socks. Done some hiking in others. It's not the material, it's just poor manufacturing or quality control.

For what it's worth I use my running socks for cycling - Inov8 Mudsocs. Simple merino socks, no extra padding anywhere so they work fine with my SPD shoes.

After rave review from a club mate and after reading the online reviews I've just ordered a set of Cero AR24 wheels.

A claimed weight of 1550g and a set of Continental Grand Sport 25c tyres all delivered for £190, I'd be mad not to go for these.
I've just ordered a set of the same wheels earlier today.

They are on offer for £129 this weekend, and come with free Continental tyres, a free cycling top and I believe free bib shorts as well!!

Almost makes the wheels free biggrin

I am hoping they are a step up from the stock Syncros Race 27 that came with my Scott CR1 20.

Mavic Crossride FTS-X rear wheel, to replace the cracked one that came with my bike.

Also tools for swapping my cassette over.

All those with Northwaves, I've just remembered you'll probably need to buy some odour eaters spray if you use them and it's above freezing biggrin

Fitted these Cosine 55mm carbon clinchers today. These are Wiggle's own brand (made by Gigantex). Great value for money and suit the bike as well due to the lack of graphics etc and matt finish. With 12% off list price and then minus the 20% VAT plus delivered free to Dubai, they seem bit of a bargain to me (even more so with the weaker GBP).

I have a pair of these, or very similar. Excellent, I found them slightly bigger than my other set of NW boots specifically so you can wear thicker socks. cool

Nice - interested to know how you find them - I might get some of the 45mm ones next year.

I wonder if the logo can be removed easily or spec'd in grey? They look good and I am looking to build a bike so will be having a closer look at these, again maybe in 45 mm for a bit more all weather ability.

But the airshot for £50 will sit on a shelf in the garage doing nothing except for the once a year when you may change your tyres. A compressor you will find you use all the time, every time want to pump up your bike tyres, car tyres, decide you want to spray paint something, clean dust out of something, etc etc. Overall it's a far more useful tool to have In your garage. Why worry about having to take it on a plane, just stick an inner tube in if you are unfortunate enough to have to completely reseat a tyre when away from home.
Maybe people change tyres more than once a year!? If you're away racing for a weekend and need to change tyres it makes life a lot easier.

Or have both...
