The "what bike bits have you just bought" thread

Was seriously considering these but may go with a set of Hunt wheels, hoping the chap on here that bought a set will give us his verdict on them.
I can wholeheartedly recommend the Hunt wheels. I'm running two sets of the Mason X Hunt wheels, one with knobbly tyres and the other with some slicks. The set with the knobblies has had quite a bit of stick and is still dead straight and hasn't missed a beat. They've been fantastic wheels.
I've just ordered a set of the Carbon Hunt wheels as an upgrade to the current ones, hopefully they'll be as good as I'm expecting!
Halfords 'click and collect' for me yesterday...
2 x Shimano CN-HG95 10 speed chains @ £11.99 each
1 x Shimano CS-HG81 10 speed 11-36t cassette @ £26.99
The current chain has worn scary fast. I've been using wet lube, though, as I ran out of 'Squirt' dry lube. I think that this might well make all the difference.
Bought 1 chain to go straight on, and another spare chain "because they were so cheap". Hopefully I won't need a fresh cassette with this chain as I've caught it early, I think.

Same here, mason x hunt wheels and they've been good, hubs are doing their 2nd winter now and still roll well. Only 50 and 52cm left now. Worth keeping and eye out as I've found out whilst waiting for one to come up in my size that the stock changes quite rapidly

20% off sounded good! But the Preffisio frames on there right now, although there are some the right size for shorty-pants here, are showing up as 10% off for minor cosmetic damage. Which is still £180, and probably still too much money to sneak past the wife at the moment. Shame, as I've got a bashed up frame just dying to give up it's gearset and finishing kit to a nice Preffisio build...
...bookmarked, though, to keep an eye on prices and availability. Limited income and bills to pay mean I can't commit right now. No matter how much I "Need!" a winter biased road bike.

OK. I'll give that a try later. I'm still going to have a job persuading my beloved that it's a good idea. She's the main earner, I 'contribute' with my pension, so she rightly holds the purse strings for "frivolous" purchases like this. Thanks again. I've been hankering after a Preffisio for a while now, for the 'proper' mudguard eyes and the red/white/black colourway. I keep falling foul of the "how many bikes do you already have?" argument though.

I keep falling foul of the "how many bikes do you already have?" argument though.Last night a seal went between the toilet and the SVP upstairs. Water brought a small part of the kitchen ceiling down, and IF we're covered for 'making good' then between two home insurance policies it looks like we'll have to find £400 in excess fees. If we're not covered it'll be worse, and we'll be living with a hole in the ceiling for a while.
Looks like bike bits will be limited to "essentials only" and then "only if we can afford it" for the foreseeable future...
