Fed up with normal tights and leg warmers so bought a pair of Pearl Izumi Elite Amfib bibs, seem decent after a pretty cold ride today.

Also ordered a pair of their Shine gloves with the mitt overcover but haven't tried them yet.

A few new bits for me, biggest bargain was the helmet, Bikesetc mag gave it helmet of the year, RRP is 80 but currently on sale at Planet X for 21 quid
Cheers for that, helmet arrive today and pretty good for £21, 50g heavier than the Specialised S3 I have at the moment. Felt pretty good and survived some sideways sliding on ice today!

This happened:

Resulting in this:

So I bought one of these (because I really don't want to spend a week drinking through a straw again):

And one of these (because DiData use them and it will therefore go with the Cervelo):

Enthusiasm > talent. Took my new-ish GT Grade to Swinley, forgot my SPD shoes so had to borrow a set of flat pedals which I've never ridden before, and basically just cocked my line up and went over a stone ledge with my weight too far forward going at a fair old lick. Landed on my face, lots of time gone missing, many stitches etc, but crucially I'm told that the bike is OK! (Still haven't got it back, the nice guys at the Swinley Bike Hub have been looking after it for me)

^^^lol... well thats the important thing.

Seriously though- The condition of the rider is ALWAYS more important than the bike. That helmet looks weel and truly hammered!!eek Good to hear your ok and recovering.

New xt cassette and chain after snapping it yesterday.

Xt is shiny but dammit not cheap. The low gear is also the size of my diet plate, truely massive.

Lamp and some dh spds also arrived on Thursday. Not ridden spds on the mtb for years, so 5 mins before the chain snap incident I toppled into a bush!

Converted my bike to 1x10 with an 11-42 cassette, clutch derailleur and 32T narrow wide oval chainring. Chainring fitted nicely to the standard 2 speed crank which saved a bit of money. I think I need to fit a couple of spacers though as 1st gear catches slightly. It's so quiet though, like night and day on the rough stuff. Saved a load of weight too as I previously had a chain device fitted in an attempt to stop chainslap/ dropping the chain.

Glad that you are OK, apart from the obvious. And good of the Bike Hub chaps to look after your Grade too.

This! I've finally got a replacement for the XT mech than I bent on the 23rd December. Glad to be able to get back out on the bike.

I'm 5'10" 85kg and had to get extra large bib shorts! Was a bit of a shock coming from medium DHB bibs.

That makes sense to me...I have a pair of decent castelli bib shorts that i bought when i was still 71kg, i needed large at that time. They bunch up now though, which is not good for comfort, so I'm giving medium a shot. I'm definitely a medium in the jersey too, so it should be ok.

I'm the same height and weight as you. I wear medium in their bibs and jerseys so I think you'll be OK.
