The "what bike bits have you just bought" thread
Discussion
I'm just building a set of Easton arc 24 rims on hope pro 4 hub for my focus hardtail, mainly for riding round the peaks and similar. I have some hope tech xc for normal xc riding and my single speed has a set of Stan's crest built on superstar fuel hubs. Great value for money wheel set! I lid £184 for them over Christmas!

I rate the superstar hubs as well I bought a wheel set with them in the Christmas sale with the ex23 rims, very, very good value. The rim is pinned not welded so initially leaked air but a shake and the sealant did its job.I also have hope hoops enduro and a rear hope DH wheel, also good value, the DH wheel is heavy but strong - I bought it to use when riding rocky rooty areas fast as I found the Easton ARC27 rim dented very easily on my one bike, the arcs are light though, I'd say they are more of an XC / Trail rim, not upto Enduro or DH tyre riding.
I rate the hope enduros as probably the best value / performance / strength / weight for my typical riding. Hope noise is love or hate though, I hate it so pedal everywhere. The Superstars are also noisy but not as bad as Hope, they are very similar hubs to hope at a fraction of the cost.
I have on my winter pub bike some novatec wheels super cheap and silent which I love freewheel and zero noise, engagement is crap though you do about 1/4 of a crank turn before engagement if coasting, novatec is cheap rubbish really, I'd not put them on a "good bike".
Slightly embarrassed (very actually) to admit I managed to put a left pedal on a right crank and vice versa last weekend. I managed to cut a new thread and everything so they appeared to be a snug fit until one fell after about 3 miles.
So that was the end of my crank arms, on the plus side I've got a set of these on the way -

Careful with the tyre levers. The Park tools ones I have dented the rims on mine.
Cheers for the heads up, I put them on the bike in Saturday, unfortunately I've actually got a more concerning problem at the moment and I'm expecting a call back from the company. I won't share at the moment as it's only right I give them a chance to get it sorted. CoinSl0t said:
