When you take your back wheel off you attach that to the drop out so the chain can run on it and not across your chain stay.

Just means I can clean the chain or spin the cranks while the wheel is off and the bike up on the stand.

I'm hoping this isn't their usual performance. Ordered a PlanetX N2A from them on Monday and their estimated build date is 21 days time. How long can it take to build a bike?
It is. I have one of their CX bikes and before that I purchased some RS80 wheels from them and on both occasions it was a painful process full of broken promises and poor communication.

One of reasons the offer free delivery is so you can't complain about a service that you haven't paid for. I spoke to them again yesterday and I was told it should ship yesterday and I would get an e-mail at 6pm with a tracking number. Surprise surprise, no e-mail.

I find the entire process very frustrating.

I've contacted Belkin today to see what's going on. They're looking at it now so I'll let you know when I get some info
I've just spoke to them; my order was 'cancelled' due to stock shortage even though I had received an order confirmation email. I should have received an automated 'cancelled' email, but never did.

Pretty poor show with respect to stock control and notification!

One gets the feeling that they got swamped once word got around and they weren't used to the demand, especially on some clothes they had laying about in the back of a warehouse

The 21 days could be the build slot. Rumor suggest they shift between 150 and 200 bikes a month and each bike is built to the client's spec when it arrives in Sheffield. I can imagine the build time goes up in the summer due to the demand. I would expect a slightly longer lead time for the N2A as I don't think its a very popular bike. They haven't changed it in two years! I've got an N2A frame on order and I've been chasing it every day this week.

When I ordered my CX bike, I was told that they had 25 frames coming from the far east. I know for a fact you can track shipments very accurately these days and they were completely incapable of giving me accurate info on when the frames were arriving and when the bike would be built. It changed something like four times.

Do I cancel or do I wait? When spending 2 grand I didn't expect to be waiting over a month (21 working days). It doesn't exactly fill me with confidence which is a shame considering I was quite happy to be buying British....

Popped into Halfords earlier for a new water bottle and also walked out with a new workstand - at £40, it was rude not to! biggrin

I've just had a similar conversation with them, not very impressed!
Although their eBay store says they have 10 medium jerseys in stock at £12.99 and free postage so will give that a go

Just ordered a SRAM 12-28 Cassette. I currently have an 11-28 Cassette which does not have a 16 tooth gear, happy to swap the 11 tooth for a 16 as I hardly ever use the smallest cog (mainly because I need to MTFU on the descents!)

Plane X are a British organisation, but like lots of bike manufacturers the frames are made in the far east, but the finished bikes are assembled here. However, the N2A was designed by a well known Italian bike designer.

To be honest, £2k is a lot for a N2A even if its running 11sp Ultegra. In the current market, the frame is quite heavy compared to the competition. I personally think the RT-57 is better value for money. I'm guessing you have noticed that there are next to no reviews on the net for the N2A as a complete bike. The only stuff you will find are ancient Planet X press releases and a few bits on weight weenies and forums. I get the impression that if the N2 went up to bikes of a similar value in a group test in a mag, it might loose.

I am building my new bike round the N2A frame because I all ready have all the bits, so buying a complete bike was always going to be a waste. Also the N2A frame is an amazing looking thing. I personally wouldn't spend £2k on the N2A, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't. Bikes are personal things, so if you like it, then wait and just keep chasing them.

I've done half a dozen sportives over the last few years and if I overtake someone, I always look at their bike and in three years, I have only ever seen one N2A and thats kinda cool smile

Edit: My frame has just turned up. Nice looking thing, but the 'chip on the headtube' isn't a chip, its a crack and they have sent the frame with out the seat post. In short I'm pissed off. I asked before I hit buy it now if it was complete and they said yes. I probably wouldn't have bothered if it didn't have a seat post. I am on the verge of sending everything back and buying a 2014 Cannondale.

I now have to suffer the painful Planet X customer service all over again...

Shogun001. You are buying new, so apart from lead time, your bike should be fine. My CX was spot on when it arrived and I use it nearly every day and so far it hasn't skipped a beat in 1600 miles and that is since March of this year.
