Wilkinsons had a similar looking brush, probably cheaper than Halfords.

I've got one of those funny shaped brushes but I don't find it very effective. I've just bought a tile cleaning brush from asda for £1 for cleaning the cassette - more volume of bristles, stiffer bristles, but still slim enough to fit the cassette. Gets my vote

I also found a couple of little brushes in asda for a quid each or something.

They were in the little DIY section, not really sure what their actual purpose is.

Hope they aren't going on Zipps! Seen quite a few trashed Zipps now that had 22's on them, they don't offer the rim any protection in case of a pothole strike.

My turbo trainer died a death this evening after quite a few years of hard work and a total lack of love and care! Rather than spend a fortune on a super fandango machine of pain, I decided to keep it cheap and simple and ordered one of these;

Elite Crono Fluid

A new bottom bracket, which I had fitted by the shop.

It went onto my MTB, which I'm going to be riding in Round 2 of the Merida Brass Monkeys winter enduro series at Tunnel Hill this weekend. And boy, did it need it. I managed to quickly wash the bike and drop it at the shop after my ride on Wednesday afternoon, and picked it up less than 24 hours later. Great service from 'Sylvester Brothers' in Cove, Farnborough.

Just picked the bike up and had the shocks etc all set up.

It came with no pedals so bought some FATBOYs for it.

Will stick a pic up tonight, shame i can't get it till Xmas, so the misses has said but then again its snowing up here so would be pointless to take it out now anyways.

Going on either Wolber Profil or Mavic GEL280 rims, then onto my NOS Vitus 979 frameset.
Are there any tubs that offer good rim protection against a pot hole?

Back to the LBS today for new cone bearings for the front wheel...

Not a standard front axle (larger ball bearing and cone nut diameter, like a rear axle), so had to buy a rear one. Cone nuts wouldn't fit old axle (wrong thread diameter) so I had to cut down the new rear axle to match the length of the old front one.

A little under £12 all in, including...

Rear axle.
Packet of ball bearings.
Tube of Lithium Grease.

...followed by a couple of hours of swearing at the fast fading light, and trying to do the work by torchlight ready for a race tomorrow... headache

I confused the chap in pedal heaven today asking for summer socks, he asked if I wanted some yellow insulated ones. My response was why would I need insulated socks in Tenerife?
"You bd" was Jakes response!

Not strickly bike related, but a passport renewal

To be followed in a few weeks of flights to Barcelona, a hotel for a week in Girona and a bike bag. A quick look round the maths work out to be about the same, or slightly cheaper to fly my bike out and back than to hire 1!

Question is can I squeeze an 810 into the budget too smile

Lovely! I used to race on a 'Kelly Blue' 979 with GEL280 rims and Conti tubs - killer combination! For training and 'Hilly TTs' on harsher roads i used cheaper and wider (25c) Vittorias and the bike would just glide like nothing else on 'draggy' back roads.

Post some pics!
