The "what bike bits have you just bought" thread
Discussion
I also have Shimano R501 wheels. I bought them back in May/June last year, for £60 for the pair, and have done almost 3000 miles on them with no issues whatsoever. I weigh 85kgs, commute in all weather, and occasionally bump down kerbs etc, and haven't had to so much as a loose spoke.
Not so much what I've bought, but what I've seen which may interest others.

that flex concerns me! Especially as I'm a little over 90kg. Having said that.. I'm still on the same wheels that came with my bike. Completely slick with very little sideways grip, so I don't lean over much on bends.
I'm 92kg and have these wheels... Stood up to me sideways hoping up/over things. They're cheap enough to replace so I'm happy to abuse them.Tuesday morning was the final straw. I've finally relented and bought a pair of proper mudguards to replace the often unused clip on rear and total lack of front.
Spotted these on the Diverge thread and thought they looked less crap than most other mudguards.

I think I'll use these in the dark and dingy months and get one of those asssaver things for the summer.

Obviously a man of excellent taste! This is the exactly what I have done. I also stuck Zonda's on my RT57 at the weekend but haven't been out yet to feel how quick/stiff it is!
Have you had yours out yet? How was it!?
I stuck the Vision Team 30s on my Specialized Allez ditching the stock wheels from that, it's so much smoother now!

Same position, untested! It's light though, mine is coming in at 7.6Kg in the spec in the pic (Saddle is my Romin Evo, not the Kappa)
Hoping to get out and do a 50miler at the weekend, weather permitting
I really need to get out and do a shakedown on it....
Keeping the Team 30s as a spare set for the Winter hack

A bit of an extreme bike related purchase, but just sold my Mini Cooper S and bought this for lugging bikes around (oh, and the dog).....
I pick it up tomorrow morning, funnily enough I am less excited about a new car than I was when I picked up my new Colnago last year!!!!
I'm glad it isn't just me that is in the situation where they need to purchase a car mainly for bike transport.I pick it up tomorrow morning, funnily enough I am less excited about a new car than I was when I picked up my new Colnago last year!!!!

Biggest issue last year was getting the bike to events, especially lift sharing! Planning on lots more events this year so a 'bike bus' became a must!!!
