I also have Shimano R501 wheels. I bought them back in May/June last year, for £60 for the pair, and have done almost 3000 miles on them with no issues whatsoever. I weigh 85kgs, commute in all weather, and occasionally bump down kerbs etc, and haven't had to so much as a loose spoke.

One of these, hopefully with me by end of Feb, pricing in Euros helps!

Bah. I paid for mine literally a week before the euro dropped.

New cross bike frameset, a Kinesis Crosslight Evo 5, proper cross racing frame, no mudguard eyes, rack mounts, or bottle cage bosses.

Not so much what I've bought, but what I've seen which may interest others.

Sport Pursuit have an offer on the PHYSIOHAUS Bike Fit http://www.sportpursuit.com/catalog/product/view/i...

£109.99 instead of the usual £185.00

You need to be a member to follow the link, but it's free to sign up and there are lots of cycling related offers on there.

No connection, just a satisfied customer of Sport Pursuit in the past

that flex concerns me! Especially as I'm a little over 90kg. Having said that.. I'm still on the same wheels that came with my bike. Completely slick with very little sideways grip, so I don't lean over much on bends.
I'm 92kg and have these wheels... Stood up to me sideways hoping up/over things. They're cheap enough to replace so I'm happy to abuse them.
I cannot say its been a problem. Just something to be aware of. I run a small carbon tt frame so I think with the stiff forks and more weight naturally on the front wheel it puts more load through on hard cornering. Maybe I push harder in corners than most...who knows. I just hear the rub and it annoys me. On the plus side they have survived a lot of abuse in 2000 miles. I cycle up some crap country lanes to work and they hold up well.

Has anyone ordered with RibbleCycles before? placed my order for those wheels on monday and it's still in the 'order received' phase. The item says it's in stock too.

Tuesday morning was the final straw. I've finally relented and bought a pair of proper mudguards to replace the often unused clip on rear and total lack of front.

Spotted these on the Diverge thread and thought they looked less crap than most other mudguards.

I think I'll use these in the dark and dingy months and get one of those asssaver things for the summer.

Obviously a man of excellent taste! This is the exactly what I have done.

I also stuck Zonda's on my RT57 at the weekend but haven't been out yet to feel how quick/stiff it is!

Have you had yours out yet? How was it!?

I stuck the Vision Team 30s on my Specialized Allez ditching the stock wheels from that, it's so much smoother now!

Bit of a bargain aren't they smile

Same position, untested! It's light though, mine is coming in at 7.6Kg in the spec in the pic (Saddle is my Romin Evo, not the Kappa)

Hoping to get out and do a 50miler at the weekend, weather permitting

I really need to get out and do a shakedown on it....

Keeping the Team 30s as a spare set for the Winter hack

A bit of an extreme bike related purchase, but just sold my Mini Cooper S and bought this for lugging bikes around (oh, and the dog).....

I pick it up tomorrow morning, funnily enough I am less excited about a new car than I was when I picked up my new Colnago last year!!!!

I'm glad it isn't just me that is in the situation where they need to purchase a car mainly for bike transport.

It comes to us all! I managed to get away with the Cooper S for a couple of years but my kids are almost as tall as me and could not get in the back, and the dog is a fairly recent addition to the household and simply could not fit in the Mini!

Biggest issue last year was getting the bike to events, especially lift sharing! Planning on lots more events this year so a 'bike bus' became a must!!!
