The "what bike bits have you just bought" thread
Discussion
I found that there was a huge variation in prices when I was buying my Garmin, even among the UK sellers. I had the need for a Strava compatible device, because I felt 'left out' and 'left behind', but I wasn't sure what model I wanted. I looked at the Edge range, from the 200 to the 800, and there were some decent deals about at the time, but in the end I took a punt on ebay and got lucky with a decent seller, for an Edge 500. When I thought about it logically, I felt I didn't need to spend the extra on mapping/navigation features, but now I sort of regret not buying at least the 800.
HandTec usually have really good prices, but at the moment they don't list the Edge 1000 on their site. I may be forced to buy a new Garmin soon, on account of how the blue one I bought clashes terribly with my new red bike. Trouble is, there seems to be a big premium on the red/black Edge 500. Or maybe I'm being too much of a tart, and I'll learn to live with things as they are.

Got this for my wife, building it up with Ultegra 6800, farsport 50mm carbon wheels from her other bike and various other carbon bits and pieces gleaned from ebay and the sales:
Is that a Kona Zone in the background? I was going to get one to replace my winter bike and procrastinated just long enough for Wiggle to sell out in my size.http://www.pedal-pedal.co.uk/
I found these guys were really good when looking for the basic Garmin 800, i wouldn't be without mine now & i regret buying the 200 now, oh well .

Must be the week for it, my Edge 500 packed up yesterday after several years of daily service, being dropped, used in every weather, left on the roof of the car etc, etc, etc!
Could do without spending money right now but finding riding without cadence, HR, time, distance etc a bit of a pita so ordered an 810 today - just hope I find a contract soon!

Mine is the performance bundle and I know it can be bought cheaper but I wanted to get it from a shop in case it goes wrong.
Garmin sort warranties themselves. Doesn't matter where you buy it. Gassing Station | Pedal Powered | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
