The "what bike bits have you just bought" thread

After throwing some frankly pathetic Lezyne levers in the bin, these puppies which I was loaned and did a sterling job of stretching my Contis over my Fulcrums.
The blue compact Schwalbe levers are really good. The mechanics at my local bike shop use them every day. Designed to fit Marathon tyres and they have to tough to fit those I've just ordered some chamois cream and socks. Only ordered the socks as I wanted to get the order value within the free delivery amount. Not a very exciting purchase but hoping to order a new bike on the companies RTW scheme next month. That will be much more fun. Really wish the scheme wasn't limited to Evans as £1k isn't much to play with in Evans if you want a carbon bike...

Yeah, I was very impressed by them. The only thing is the rounded-end ones that I borrowed once and that have a good rep have been replaced by square-end ones. They may be just as good but apparently they don't clip together.I've also used this Topeak set and they work just as well if not better.

I've got a couple of Oakley replaceable lens cycling sets, and really rate them.Their new "Prizm" tech sounds interesting, and for the same money as the Rapha ones, I think they'd be worth a look. Certainly if you're thinking about spending that kind of money, it might be worth considering...
(Also, it's not too far from the Rapha cafe off Regent's Street to the Oakley store in Covent Garden.)

For what it's worth, I have the Oakley Jawbones with Prizm lenses and love them (same price as the Raphas)

You've been around long enough to know that Johnny buys "because Rapha"
I'm almost as guilty, if not quite as well funded. I commuted in my black pro-team skinsuit yesterday. On a mountainbike. With (non-Rapha) pink overshoes.(My time trial on Wed night was cancelled, and figured it needed "finishing off" before it was washed!)

Little bit late on this but what sort of saddle is that in the pics? I'm Quite intrigued by the large cut out.
I've tried googling Lizard Skins DSO but didn't come up with anything.
The tape is DSP. That was blue and we then bought black for a better look. I've tried googling Lizard Skins DSO but didn't come up with anything.
Saddle is Selle Italia SLR Lady Flow.

I probably belong on the council thread... I can't stand the look of those Rapha glasses!
I have 2 pairs of choakleys I'm told just arrived and waiting at home when I get back from work. I ordered them 3 weeks ago.
How are getting on with the fake Oakleys. There is always a fake Oakley shop popping up in my news feed. I'm tempted with a set of Jawbones. I have 2 pairs of choakleys I'm told just arrived and waiting at home when I get back from work. I ordered them 3 weeks ago.
I had a play with some Oakleys at Luton Airport. Wasn't impressed with the quality at all. They feel like they really have gone down hill. My blue Ducati Valves have lost a bit of paint here and there, but they are 10 years old and have seen a lot of use. However they felt better than the stuff I played with.

They've been good. I am on my second pair of jawbones though because one of my sons (age 2.5yrs) managed to snap a lug off an arm. At the price they are, it was of little consequence, but I don't know if original oakleys would have been tougher. Similar treatment before seemed to result in the arm just popping out but just one time I think the pressure went the wrong way. The jawbreakers are "a bit much", Mrs IdiotGap has decreed that I'm not allowed to wear them off the bike.I imagine she feels that same about the jawbones too. I have some foakley frogskins I keep in the car that she doesn't mind, I got those back in April last year and no problems with them.
I watched a video where an Aussie guy took a stack of fake oakleys to a lab where they had a UV test machine and they all passed the test. As I understand it polycarbonate lenses filter out almost all UV because that's what polycarbonate does, so as long as the lenses are made of that material then you should be ok. It's hard to test glasses yourself at home either for being composed of polycarbonate or for their ability to filter UV out.

Have a Lee Valley session booked next month and riding SPDs on both my bikes I didn't want to have to rent suitable shoes so I have been looking for a pair of road shoes.
After trying on a few pairs (harder than it would at first appear when even places like Evans only have a few suitable pairs in stock to try) I settled on a pair of Louis Garneau LS-100 which fit me superbly. Wanted a boa closure as I find ratchets a bit crude and bulky when using overshoes. Didn't want to spend £300 on Sidis either!
A set of Look Keos and cleats and I should even have a few weeks to get used to them before I go for a wobble round the track.

Won't ever buy fake sunglasses after my wife burned her eyes using a pair which, it transpires, had no UV protection at all.
I know what you mean, and have to agree with you.You only get one set of eyes, and they don't heal well. I don't by expensive ones for the kids, but I tend to get them from somewhere like Mothercare where you can realistically hope that they have been tested at least a reasonable standard.

I have these in white and they're very good and quite stiff! SoliD said:
