Did you need to change the mech too?

I've got an 11-36 10 speed cassette, which is fine locally, but I struggle if I go to Wales etc.

No I didn't, but I had to screw the B-limit all the way in otherwise the chain jams. Appears to be ok, but might change the mech anyway sooner or later as it's always unwilling to change down to the smallest cog (despite setting the hi/lo limits) - it's like the spring isn't strong enough.
Got a 2 hour race on Sunday which will be my first ride on it, so hope it performs!

Who needs a bottom bracket, crankset, chain, cassette, front derrailleur, front brake + lever, rear brake + lever, bottle cage....and a seat clamp wink lol

Still your leaps ahead of me...im still looking at a bare frame with nothing more than a headset and bottom bracket in it.... so I have a bit to go too.

Spent a fair chunk this weekend!

One of these

Cannondale Super X Ultegra

Then ordered single chainring and some new bar tape today. Already swapped the saddle over and raced it for the first time Sunday. Was an absolute beast, so much better than my Pinnacle Arkose 4.
That's lovely! I've got the peasant version CAADX with Rival which I'm thinking about fettling with over xmas.

What ring have you gone for on the front?

...well I don't think I'll be getting that Preffisio frame anytime soon.

Last night a seal went between the toilet and the SVP upstairs. Water brought a small part of the kitchen ceiling down, and IF we're covered for 'making good' then between two home insurance policies it looks like we'll have to find £400 in excess fees. If we're not covered it'll be worse, and we'll be living with a hole in the ceiling for a while.

Looks like bike bits will be limited to "essentials only" and then "only if we can afford it" for the foreseeable future... frown
Sorry to hear of your misfortune. You can live with a hole in the ceiling but you can't live without a bike wink

It is fantastic, worked wonders for my racing as I finished about 15 places higher than normal on Sunday.

Gone for a 38 Superstar narrow wide, was contemplating 40, but number of times I get that low down the cassette for the league round here is minimal. Due to race Sunday at Lovelo Crossmass so will see how I get on with it.

Just picked these up today as an early Christmas present to myself. I've told myself I'll sell my current wheels in the new year, but it's good to have a spare set, right??

They're only 40s, can't say I've ever had issues on 50s apart from in gale force winds where it doesn't matter what wheels you're using.

They're the '55s', I probably will keep the other set, I can always sell them later when I see what kind of use they both get.

Cheers. Sadly, since Monday, things haven't gone too well. My Home Emergency Cover seems to be being run by chimps. RSA (underwriter) has assured me that I'm covered for a repair (I've got a downstairs loo as well) but their own 'service provider' disputes that, saying I'm not covered "because second loo".

I'm due to race on Sunday. But this sorry saga of waiting in for phone calls which never come has dragged my mood right down. I've got a history of mental health issues, linked to the end of my army career, and I've allowed myself to be dragged back into that dark place again. It's not doing my wife's health any good, as she's being burdened with being the breadwinner and sorting this unholy mess out.

Living with a hole in the ceiling? I've no choice currently. Living without a bike? I've got two that are serviceable, so that's not a problem really. Living without joy, enthusiasm, or motivation? That's the bind I'm in right now. What little 'get up and go' that I did have has very definitely "got up and left"... frown

Forgot to mention the new Wahoo Kickr I bought last month to help me get through the winter kinths now that I've stopped commuting by bike as I work from home now. I've subscribed to Trainer Road for the winter and I'm thoroughly enjoying myself with it.

Get yourself on Zwift - works so well with the Kickr. You can still do structured workouts like TR, but have the added bonus of racing people in real time.

Give it 5 days and I should have a 2nd hand Cube Stereo 140. It's been upgraded to 1x11 XT and looks lovely. Going to phone for the deposit tomorrow. I hope I can get her before Xmas for a Boxing Day spin.
