Well, that was the plan.

It kinda didn't work out that way!

Last night thanks to much much help from Neil my Dialled PA was finally finished. Well actually, not finished. More started. I've already got plans for white cable outers and a fork re-spray...

Anyways here's the spec and i've put a price against, just to see how it compares to buying a complete new bike. And partly to scare myself in the process. hehe

All parts second hand unless listed otherwise. This has been 12 and bit months of gathering smile

Slightly scruffy small Mk2 Dialled Prince Albert frame £120
Easton EA 50 bars £free from moon's parts bin
Frame and bar repsray £40
Superstar grips (new) £8
Stem £free off a mate
Chris King £55
Stem stackers £err borrowed from Neil!
Coil Pikes with maxle £150
X7 shifters, x9 rear mech, lx front mech, sram chain £80
front mech shims £free from neil's parts bin
sram cassette £18 (new, really!)
Formula the 1 brakes £100
Superstar brake discs £22
Brake mounts £20
Race face cranks, bb, 3 rings £80
Sycros rims on hope pro IIs £100
Maxxis Advantage x2 £60 (new)
Tubes x2 £6 (new)
Hope pro II QR conversion £20
Cabling £5
Helicopter tape from B&Q £5
Rear skewer £5 (new)
Thompson seat post £40
Charge spoon saddle £23 (new)
Seat clamp £free from moon's parts bin
Old school SPDs £free from a mate

I think thats it!

All in £957! yikes Would have been more without some of the free bits.

plus some cider for the spanner wink

Is that good? I don't really care because cloud9

Looks great! I built up my Whyte 19 Trail 'on the cheap' and probably spent a similar amount on it! Often best not to to such calculations at the end of a project!

I worked out my Whyte would be close to £3k if I bought it all new at RRP so pretty good value in that respect.

I REALLY enjoy riding the hardtail - so responsive after years of FS, and it's only on the jumps/drops/rough stuff that I much prefer the ML8.

He He, it must be that time of year where we all root through the garage and decide to build a bike.

I just picked up my dads old Ridgeback bike. He commuted on it for about 10 years until a stroke knocked him down, so his bike has been unused for a couple of years. Meanwhile, I'd been struggling to the station and back on an early 90's Mongoose 3 sizes too small. I also had a shed full of bits and a pair of kooky wheels I've been meaning to make use of. Cue: Frankenbike!!

biggrin
Totally different to yours of course. Total cost to me was £40 for a new chain and gear cables. It's got a smattering of XT - parallel push V's and LX drivetrain (except the stty Alivio Crankset which I may exchange for and old Race Face one I've got.)

Anyway, your bike looks ace- Not 'cheap' but at least its exactly what you want, and you've worked hard to get all the bits together.
I just ordered a new MTB for £600 - down from £900. It's not a half the spec of your bike though!
