Been a number of years since I had some proper cycling shorts. So had a shufty on line and noticed "bib shorts" are more popular than regular styles.

Why is this? and are they actually better? One part of that relates to "emergency p stops" it's a palaver with a Tri Suit. Is it as bad?

p.s. Are AGU shorts any good?

Non-bib shorts tend to ride down and become baggy around the groin, which is annoying as you get stuck to the nose of the saddle when you go to sit down hehe

This thread should give you plenty of pointers on what to buy http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Once you've worn bib shorts you'll never want to cycle in anything else.

bib shorts do away with that tight elastic band that sits on your waist which, after an hour or so, becomes very uncomfortable.

never tried agu but they seem ok from the reviews. they seem to be new to the market. personally you cant go wrong with stuff from endura, dhb or gore

Endura are excellent value IMO, Gore are very good but a bit more expensive and i've never been able to justify the additional cost!

I prefer waist shorts to bibs generally. I find the bibs make my shoulders ache a little after a long ride whereas I have no problems with waists. It's down to body shape and seating position I suppose.

I use long bibs in the winter though - better draught-proofing.
