My first time going to watch drag racing, I've got front row seats for the stands and have been really looking forward to it. But I'm a bit concerned by some of the threads in this section of late, and it feels like there may be an elephant in the room. Is this event going to be good?

It's a fuss over nothing mrmr96. Rest assured, you are in for one of the most unforgettable motorsport experiences of your life. When people go for the the first time and see what it's like they simply can't believe what they're seeing. You'll love it, and thats a promise. Can't wait to see your posts here after the event.

It will be brilliant, it always is.
Make sure you take the time to get a look round the pits, everybody is friendly and welcoming and you can get to see some of the best engineered cars and bikes on the planet close up.
Quite a few PH'ers will be racing so come say hello.

It will be awesome! There will be plenty of quick Pro action and some nice side by side at the line Sportsman action too - for example in the class im running in there will be 44 cars going for 32 spots in eliminations and im sure that there will be only thousandths of a second seperating the top competitiors... Im just hoping to make it into the field and not DNQ!

the TF and TMD fields (espesh the Maltese) plus 4 AAFC should compensate fot a depleted PM entry list - which is still more than interesting - I may make it for the last day
do i see a Swedish PM entered?....

That's not just the first time, I've been in regular states of disbelief whilst watching drag racing for decades!!! There's no way of describing it mate you just have to be there, as literally anyone who has seen/heard/felt/smelled/tasted it will testify. Don't be put off by the depleted numbers compared to recent years, it only takes two to drag race and one great race alone can make the whole weekend worthwhile. I'm sure there'll be plenty of them.

RWJ said: Take earplugs too. My choice would be the biggest ear defenders your workshop has to offer, especially for the blown classes, if you´re sitting front row. If you are wearing prescription glasses with antireflex coating, be careful as unburnt nitro vapors can damage the coating permanently. Don´t take your finest clothes as they might have some small black specks afterwards, when the hot rubber in the burnout clouds descends onto fabric it sort of vulcanizes, you haven´t been close to a track without "Goodyear freckles" which look funny though...

I think its always worth reading up on how the timing system works for the various classes. If you have not been before it can be confusing how the "slower" car can win.
